You can go down to the DMV and ask them what to do or get a hold of a title company but my guess is the New Jersey DMV is going to have to be involved at some point. I know the money is burning a hole in your pocket but an 04 R6 with low miles for $4k is about the easiest deal to find. Be patient and find another one.

Ayi Ayi captain' lol no seriously, thank you! im not considering the bike anymore. And im trying to mate this money so they can lay eggs in my pocket and have baby quarters

Just look around for something local with title, the few hundred you may save will end up costing you more time and money...
word. not the greatest deal. you can find others equal or better in price. i paid 4200 for 05 w/ 18K miles but lots of goodies about 2 yrs ago. keep looking, r6 is a dime a dozen.

also dont get emotional if you 'missed out' on a deal. another one will come by. if you get worked up, you will rush into buying something that might not be the best deal.

Although I believe like others have said you should just forget about this bike, this above statement is not true.

I bought a trackbike that had a salvage title from California. Texas buyer (who I bought the bike from) signed the California title but never transferred it in Texas to his name (ie- never got a Texas title).

I got a bonded Texas title with no issues at all.

nice. I was just pulling the info from the Texas website.
  • In order to qualify, you must be a Texas resident or military personnel stationed in Texas; or
  • Have a vehicle that was last titled in Texas.
  • The vehicle must be in your possession and cannot be considered abandoned, junked, stolen, or in any other pending lawsuits. Although not required to be operational, it must be a complete vehicle including a frame, body and motor or if a motorcycle, a frame and motor.

The only bonded title I did was for a Texas titled bike.

I do know that the guy that did my bonded title said he always files the paperwork as "unknown" for last state of known title. He said they almost always don't research it. He was actually surprised they titled it as Texas Salvage. He said usually it comes back with a "clean, blue title," which is actually kind of frightening.
