say a guy hits me, totals my bike, his insurance pays for it (salvage motorcycle)

say he hits me and my bike is totalled. i currently ride a salvage bike, would his insurance company cut me a check for what the bike with a blue title would be worth or what the value of my salvage bike is worth? because i got a good deal on a basically problem-free bike that someone bought and didnt know how to ride

and i've always wondered this because my bike is very valuable to me although its not worth much on paper.

Most insurance companies will pay a reduced value for the bike because it is a salvage title.

no it has not happened to me but, i mean , i really need to watch my out there because i picked up an 08 for 2,700 (right at half?) market value at the time, and im not gonna take that kinda loss because if the insurance agency cuts me a check for 2,500 im gonna be back on a ninja 250 (i dont think so)

You insure the bike for it's actual value. Insurance should pay a claim for actual value at time of loss. Insurance is there to prevent you from having a catastrophic loss, not to provide you with a profit.

You can probably find an insurer who will cover it for an "agreed value" but the cost to insure will rise accordingly.
