So, where the "old guys" about to bring in a load of new customers or did they just overlook the fact that YOU have set up a fairly large gathering with paying clientel that could further their business and thus have more regular/repeat business based on the success of this particular venue ? me thinks this is bullshyte and you should complain to your union (is'nt that what they do now?)

sorry for typos and punctuation for all you grammar nazis, doing this from my tv remote

That's the spirit, and if by the end of the night you are not re-hired, then I'll plead a good case for you or plant flowers in their bushes .

Deal?

F^ck it took forever to type that and so many posts have been made since! Show up Lockless we will shoot the renfest shyte for a minute and have a beer. They will see what a little pr does for a company and if you dont stay then its likely they will loose our business. No worries but as you said, what else do you have to do (other than come have a drink with us)

Lets keep it clean guy. A manager is on this forum and id rather not do anything that's messed up. I loved working there and that's that.

People that had been there
Put some complaints about
Ever so slow business or not enough for
RojerLockless I guess...

Don't make sense that at least for this
Event they should let him
Come in and finish his last day
Killing & pouring some drinks for all us .

Here's a little something to offer Coaches, if both you and they are willing to negotiate a re-hire.

There are certain prejudices and pre-conceived notions people work on, even if some aren't true or fair. For many professions, bartending solidly included, men are seen as more competant than women. We automatically assume that a male gets hired because he is fast, accurate and carries a wide repetior of recipes. Women likewise are assumed hired on basis of cup size.

And there is a ring of truth to this. Check out enough bars and you'll frequently see that men hustle tips by serving people as fast as possible (i.e. most # of customer per hour; = good customer service) while the ladies tend to work the PR aspect. Making me smile and feel welcome never overcomes having to wait 20 minutes to order my drink while you make everyone else feel comfy.

Any bar that wants to stay in business absolutely must have some good lookin' gals behind the counter; no scenery - no return from us customers. Notice that most customers will flirt with lady-bartenders, but order our drinks from the man if we can. Thus the winning combination is 1 male, 1-2 gals behind the counter. You're part of the winning strategy.

==================

But enough of that rant. I'm curious as to the HISTORY of this particular situation. If there's something you'd rather not post online, that's cool. Your version sounds plausible. With companies, deciding who to keep on always boils down to $$$ - if you help bring in large crowds, you're a goldmine regardless of tenure.

If you've left on good terms, there's nothing wrong with asking an employer for a little help in finding something else. Actually works when leaving on less-than-perfect terms too, come to think it - they help you find something else, you don't have to file unemployment, and their unemployment insurance doesn't take a hike.

Now if you're a rider, and play a key part in starting "bike nite" you can claim that you're responsible for bringing in extra business. If a normal Wed night brings in 2 grand, and bike night rakes in 6 grand, you could honestly tell a future employer that you brought in $4000 a night worth of business beyond what they'd normally make.

The catch is proving this - are there other fellow riders working there? OK, did they post on Houston's largest motorcycle forum? How many people are there because of you specifically, and if this becomes a regular event how many will return because of you? Even if the event succeeds after you leave, can you still claim you brought the people there? IDK, just tryin to help ya out bro.

-----------

PS after all the missed attempts at Wed night rides, I plan on being there - albeit caging it.

Very well thought out and posted. Both sides are good terms as far as leaving. Other then the fact i still want to work there lol. And the gm told me he'd give me a good recommendations to my next place and offered to hired me back on in Oct part time if i wanted it. He's a good guy for however short i knew him. That being said im sleepy and going to bed.
