My New (used bike) is already giving me trouble.. HELP

I recently purchased an 08 ninja 250r from a member of this forum.
It has 4,500 miles as of now.

The problem is that is CONSTANTLY Smells like gas everytime I start it up and ride it.
The gas smell doesnt go away... Even At stop lights I can smell it Very strongly.. Enough to get me light headed...(previous owner says he never noticed this, which I find extremely hard to believe)

Also, Every time I initially start it up it will have a rough/low idle and feel like it wants to stall out.. but as I start riding around the idle smooths out and raises it self to about 1.5-2k rpm..
The Bike seems to run fine as far as I can tell.. (but its my first bike)

Any info or suggestions would be very much appreciated!! Im very frustrated.

Take it to a shop and have it looked at. Carbs might need to be cleaned and synchronized.

Are you sure the choke isn't on?
It's the lever on the l/h handlebar, and it should be all the way forward.
If you'd like swing by and I'll look at the bike and can tell you what's going on, no charge.

You should probably get it repainted. Bikes that look better, feel better about themselves typically gain a stronger sence of self pride and just naturally want to run better -
Otherwise I would contact 1HEALTHY750 and ask him how to get hold of Klaus (German name - not Santa). I know he's done excellent work before on his bike.
Or find Rudy who "used to" work at 2wheeltoyz. With either guy you will get what you pay for and not get ripped off.

The choke is a small lever on the right side of the left handle. If it is moved all the way towards the front wheel, the choke is closed. If it is moved towards you, the choke is opened and the carbs are spraying more fuel into the engine than necessary. The only time you need the choke is to start the engine on a cold morning.

inspect anything if its leaking... if not then check hoses and lines that will have fuel.. all that looks good then take it to get a carb service and you should be good.
2 wheel toys are some great people.. that's a very close shop to you.

Sounds like it runs ok, may be a kinked vent line
