Nice work Alan!

Cody, how long before you have it all put together and get it on the track?

Head is on, just need to degree the cams. Saving up for the external fuel system, nitrous system, lowering links, f/r tire, and some other odd ball misc stuff. About 2 grand more worth of parts. Hopefully by sept, but Idk

Everything....LOL

Cody is investigating but he thinks the head popped a freeze plug which pumped coolant into the valve train area and drained into the crank case....thus mixing with the oil and killing the bearings, and then the rods, and then the cases and then everything else...

Kind of a freak thing really but...It still sux...especially for Cody.

christ I love threads where people post pics of an engine build

That being said I get so lost and overwhelmed with the idea of having to be responsible for ever single part of that engine. I know -all about engines. Is this something that is learned rather easily? I mean, that's a lot of parts hahaha

Thats part of racing. When it first let go, and I saw the hole in the cases, I figured I would be sick to my stomach, but after seeing motors blow up time after time over the years, I wasnt, I just knew its somethnig that has a chance of happening. The bad thing was, I hadnt even had a chance to lay down some real power to it.

I talked to a reputable engine builder and he said Im the 4-5 person hes seen the plug vibrate loose on. He said fome the factory, they are .001-.002 to small and dont fit properly. They will be JB welded (or replaced with aftermarket ones) on the next build

Im taking donations if anyone feels the need to give

FAWK.... I was sick to my stomach when I saw your pics....

Like you said, can always happen when racing but.... You didnt even get a season out of it.....Thats just not right.

I had NEVER heard of that freeze plug issue.... I am convinced it is something in the Gen 2s.....I have worked on/installed no less then 20 gen 1 busa heads and never seen or heard of this.....

IF I do any more gen IIs, I will JB weld or epoxy those plugs in as well....

I feel bad for you though...I had some high expectations for that motor and I know you did as well.... 8.60 was not bad for a shakedown pass but.....I think it would have gone some 8.40s after some practice/tuning.... Then put the jug to it and go for 7.80s...

If you need any help on anything, let me know... Start saving your pennies for the next build...
