waiting for stainless valves to arrive (was going oversized, then sent them back and decided to do standard), then dropping head off to get surfaced and assembled.

anyone who might be interested in head work, contact John Miffco

Great work, quick question: How do you tell the piston rings were bad? Is it the bur of burned oil/gas on the sides of them or what? Shouldn't they have some clearance with the sidewalls anyway (that would cause the bur on the sides)? Thanks!

Notice the ring hardly has any gap? It is sprung and lost its tension...There should be a 3/8" or so gap in the rings when not in the cyl.

The back on the sides of the pistons is a sprayed on teflon/silicone type coating to help prevent cyl scuffing, less noise and less friction....

Looks like brand new doesn't it?

There is a LOT of work in these things....The cleaning of every nut and bolt along with cleaning every thing else in the engine just eats up too many hours....

I gotta go up on my rates for the next one...lol

Is that a finger print on the white plug? If so, please wipe it off? Looking good.

Bought another base gasket, will drop off tomorrow
