I think the motorcycle safety courses should be taught at the track. It would help to teach some real skills. Nothing fancy, just learn to lean.

What would really be nice if track days would go back to having a couple "true" beginner days a year. Not a level four or whatever with ricky racers dive bombing the noobs, but ONLY beginners on the track.

But the real issue is getting people to admit they don't know what they are doing... peer pressure is a biyatch.

My first track day was just as you described. It was at GSS and although the rule was NO PASSING in turns in the beginner sessions, some of the riders got crazy. I held my lines fine, but it was a bit of a turn off. Candie was always professional; I her! I'm so sorry she's not riding anymore.

In marketing, it's called "shrink it and pink it". Take anything, make it smaller and pink, and (most) women will buy it, and 1/2 of men will buy it for their women.

If you're causing semi's to skid their brakes and traffic jams, then I won't be nice to you. In your mind, you've just started riding and the roads are a little scary, so you ride a little slower than you ought. But to everybody else on the freeway, you're an accident waiting to happen.

As I stated before - there are always alternative routes to get to where you want to go in Houston. The freeway is no place for scared, new riders. Practice in a neighborhood or on back roads.

I've been new before; it took me quite a while of back roads and neighborhoods before I got the freeway.

If this was LA than the speed on the freeway would be 3 mph, and you'd need to have the to lane split.
