Exclamation TO ALL NEW AND OLD MOTOHOUSTON USERS

I've been around for like 2 years. I had an old account that I deleted and ended up coming back anyway.

I've noticed a sudden increase in "Are there any rides in --ville tonight?" threads popping up.

Someone has already pitched the idea of a status based system that shows when a user is willing to go riding.

UNTIL that becomes a reality keep this is mind.

If you want to ride, make your own thread. I PROMISE YOU, SOMEONE WILL MEET YOU AND RIDE WITH YOU.

I can't tell you how many times I've started a thread and ended up with a a massive ride going.

search up a Galveston ride for my 20th birthday. I thought me and a few friends were going. Ended up having 300 bikes riding down to the seawall.

The point is... eventually the need for threads will disappear. You will start exchanging numbers and making friends that you can spontaneously text and get a ride going.

Until you reach that point... Just make a ride thread with an appropriate time and location to meet. Try doing it a few days in advance too. People have lives.

Just my two cents....

Happy riding.

You can only have my number if you swear to stop doing those late night dashes around the city. Just because your bike can break 200+ doesn't mean you should!

LOL!

What's this thread in reference to?
What's wrong with asking if there's a ride at "such and such" place etc?

If I understand it correctly, people will eventually exchange numbers and hook up to ride off the board.

Then, say, they have a ride planned amongst buddies that isn't posted on the board. Then someone that doesn't know them or have their number can post and ask, hey is anyone riding in such and such tonight? Yes, THEY are...

How is it detrimental to the board or to other members if someone posts up to ask?
That's the entire idea behind this forum. To meet up and join other riders.

I share the OP's frustration in reading those threads. I think it's more of new guys that don't think they have the "authority" to start a ride so they just ask if something else is going on in their area. They do this over and over again when if they just posted a time and place, they could get something started and maybe get a few other shy people together and out on the road already.l Too many missed opportunities is the detriment. and I am the guy with the suggestion of the DTR status. I'm going to start a poll now.

It's a motorcycle forum.
Anyone can post and ask if anyone is riding anywhere.
Just cause you've been around a couple of years and have seen more pixels on a screen that you don't care for shouldn't stop motorcycle riders from asking about motorcycle rides. I don't really understand y'alls issue with a "anyone riding tonight?" thread.

Maybe it happens a lot but we want a lot of ride and meet threads. The more, the better the site is doing it's intended job. It'd be kinda hard to reach out to all the noobs before they post anyway.

Let's ride.

LOL. Yes. I am Ben who made the ride and went down the day before.

It was a great turn out!

The point of my post was... People wait for people like newrider and everyone else to make a ride then they go to that one. They don't realize that they have the ability to create their own ride.

Furthermore people don't realize that once you have a few numbers under your belt the need to even log on to MH (for ride purposes) will diminish completely. Leaving more time for riding.

Trust me... If I was a new rider on the site the last thing I'd want to do is ride with ever tom and harry out there.

I've ridden with great people and hats alike. I've weeded out the hats and stuck with a decent group of people.
