Your First Car

Today at lunch we were talking about our first cars. Not the first car you drove, but the first car that you owned.

Mine was a 1981 Mazda Rx-7. Bought it in 1990 with 135,000 miles for $1K. I had it for a year, got about 7 tickets, wrecked it three times, and put about 45K miles on it (Hey, I was 16!!)

2,600lbs
1.1 Litre Rotary Engine
100HP@6000 RPM

1973 Chevy Nova, inline 6 cylinder, 3-speed on the column. It was NOT what I wanted so i only drove it once. My mom sold it and I got what I wanted. 1990 Nissan Pickup. This was in 1990.

When I was 16 my Grandma wanted to give me her 1974 Gran Torino. It was like the pic below except gold with a white top & white interior. It was mint condition with a big V-8.

I was too stupid to take it. I'd definately be rollin' in that car now!

Hahah.. I think my grandma STILL has one of those!! :laughing6

I liked the Nova a lot, but it wasn't what "I" wanted. I can be VERRRY picky/stubborn. I was 18 though. I didn't learn how to drive until I was 18. lol I never had in interest in driving. I was A-OK with riding my bike every where. I had an older sister who got a car when she was 16, so I could a ride with her if I needed to.

I still have my first car. I got it in 01, it had 29k miles on it, I was teh 2nd owner.
its a 1995 mazda miata. I had the whole stupid "turbo, rims, kit...blah blah blah" thing planned, but in the end all I did was suspension work. I used to do a bit of SCCA and autoXing. Maybe one day again.....

man i dun think imma car anytime soon that will top my first car. 96 supra TT with over 40k in mods. It was my uncle's and we worked on it together. He gave it to me when it was basically stock and i got him into modding. So we spent a lot of money on it. It made 1200rwhp... then one day he said he wanted it back so fine... three days later, it rains and the fool fukin' wrecks it. 1200rwhp + rain = wrapped around telephone pole. Fukin' idiot.
