Need help to to get inspection for XR650R!

Hey guys.

I bought a XR650R from Colorado. In perfect shape. The guy was riding it on the road (street legal) just by adding a rear view mirror and a taillight for the license plate. It still has the knobby tires on. The title doesn't say "for off-road only" so I guess he had it changed. I bought a horn and installed it. I think that's all I need. Because the bike is from out of state I need to have it inspected before license. I got insurance.

I went this morning to my local garage to have the inspection done and they didn't want to do it. He got mad. Saying it didn't have signals and it was a dirt bike!

Where can I find a (friendly) garage to do the inspection (the green sheet) in the Sugar Land/Missouri City area to take to the DMV?

Do I have to remove the knobby tires?
Am I missing anything else?

Thanks in advance
Fred

ask him to show you in the book where it says you HAVE to have turn signals. That guy is an hat, go somewhere else.

Here's the page out of the book...

as stated above but also demonstrate that you can use hand signals and that you know what they are

Guy that owns it is a good friend of mine, and he does all my inspection. Don't expect him to pass you if something isn't on that list though. He's not going to do you any favors, but at the same time, he's not going to turn you away for bullshit reasons.

I used to work in sugarland and would have been able to do it then, but if you can make it down to Pasadena I can do it here.

only thing i can add is the tires do need to be (DOT) tires most knobbys are not. look to see if they have the DOT stamp on them.
