No . That's crazy.

I'm surprised a cop is actually coming out to take a report. Seems like they just don't care for the most part. With mine, they took the report over the phone and gave me a case number, and the insurance company pretty much started writing the check as soon as I told them. They knew better than to wait around and see if the police came up with anything.

There was a video where (San Diego?) police put out a video showing how easy it was to steal a bike. They didn't show what wires, but on a CBR it only took the cop about 15 seconds to hot wire it. They also showed on another bike how they could unhook the key harness and plug in their own to start it up and ride away.

If the cops can do it in fifteen seconds...

Low jack MAY get it back, but won't stop the theft.

Not sure I'd want my baby back after she's been violated.

@babymilo: Come over and say hi next time don't be such a stranger. You guys had a nice setup going.

@Green600: Thanks Daniel I'm sorry we didn't get to go on any rides together but I hope your family is coming along well. Right now I stay pretty tight on funds because I pay for my own rent, tuition, and all bills. That being said I cannot afford another bike as a full time worker and student.

Yes once I stated my basic info on the phone they just said we'll send a unit right over and was there in less than 10 minutes. Perhaps they are taking it seriously, or maybe someone already did complain before about these crimes occurring in the area. The cop was very nice and helpful, took all info, reviewed the tape, even asked to go to the garage where the bike was taken from.

Everything can be said about what to do when you're in an apartment with a bike, but you have to think like a thief. They are just going to take what they want, when they want. The best way is to just get full coverage. As costly as it may be, it's the only way you'll get compensated for sure and have a new start. Like Vegas said do you really want your bike back after someone beat the out of it? I actually already had a quote from my agent since I was moving next month to my new apartment that has less security and was going to activate it then. I guess everything happens for a reason. Whatever the case, although my bike might not have been pretty or fixed up, it was and always will be my bike.

Hung bike stolen

This is how I fell. I'm getting him to email me the series of pics right after that where he catches my entire fall. Without him coming to check on me and talking to me later I would've believed that it was my fault. Convo went something like this:

Him: Hey you know you're not supposed to crash in front of the camera right? Are you ok?
Me: Yes I know and yes I'm ok haha.
Him: Well what happened?
Me: I'm not sure, possibly throttle control? It happened so quick I picked my line and entered it and I guess I let off the throttle for a sec upsetting the suspension and it just fell.
Him: Oh is that what you think happened?
Me: Yea that's my guess and that's what I just told Dave. Why did you see something else?
Him: If I show you you're gonna be really upset!
Me: No please do I want to know so I can learn!
Him (pulls it up and points to the slider): You lean like the level 3's but the only difference is you stay on your bike but they get off of it so they give the look like they are leaning more. However once you did accomplish that on this last session, your slider actually made contact with the track. It just slipped the bike from under you. Otherwise you were perfect.
Me: No wai...

Now I'm not trying to point fingers as it was always my intention to remove them ever since I bought the bike but never got to it (even though a few friends of mine suggested the same). I understand it was my fault for not doing so. But after passing tech with those on, all those sessions, and being watched by a personal instructor along with the overcrowded level 1 class, no one came up and said anything to me about how I could have been in danger? :confused I guess it doesn't matter much now but it would have been nice to not have crashed on my first (possibly only now) track day.

So no theft coverage? :( That sucks.
I hope you find a way to make it work to get another bike. Maybe even on a cheap used 250? But yeah, I know how school can drain your account.
