Oil change

How often is the oil changed on a bike. I know on a car its every 3000 miles. Ive put about 2000 on my bike and just curious how often it is changed out. I pretty much just commute to work and home, and occasionally to my gf's house. I have only had my bike since march and had the oil changed approx two weeks after I got her.

i would of changed it right when i got the bike, and then it just depends how hard you ride it and how much traffic you sit in. when i ride real aggressive ill change it ever 1500 ish. if its casual then about 2500-3000. but more importantly i pay attention to how dirty the oil gets.

forgot to mention oil type... motul or amsoil are the only 2 i would recommend.

Well at the time I didnt have enough cash to do so plus I had a new front tire installed also. So far all the work has been done at Motorcycles Unlimited.

The primary issue I have on extending the oil change interval on motorcycles when using synthetic oil is the capacity of the oil filter.
While the oil may not break down the smaller filter may lose some efficiency or even go into bypass. I recommend 3000 mile intervals for street use.

Has anyone thought to recommend what the manufacturer's manual says?

Yamaha FSM says to change oil filter every 2 changes so oil filter should not be a problem.

*But at the same time, I change mine ever 3k and change the filter... It is cheap and why not?

new question...for track, how many TDs between oil change?

/end thread jack.

I change oil and filter every 3K miles, semi-synthetic oil.

I've always change at 4k on the f4i. But my 2011 cbr book says every 8k after the break in oil change. I'll trust them for now. If anything iffy happens, warranty WILL cover it.
