I got offerd a job...im just slightly unsure about taking it, opinions?

I found out about this guy, who goes from dealership to dealership upholstrying the cars. I dont know the hours yet, for sure, it would be sats for sure, something like 8 or 10 untill 4 and then most likely the rest of the week untill 4 as well.
It would pay about 400-500 a week.

Heres the bad. I live at I10 and dairyashford. basically between katy and the beltway, on I10. This shop is at 1960 and perry!!!
he said go down beltway, get off at fallbrook, then switch over to another road, and follow it allllllll the way to 1960.

does this job sound worth it? sounds like im going to be spending many hours in the morning and evening building up the mucsles in my left leg.

Dude...If you own a bike, it's not going to be a problem. Save gas, time and cut through traffic.

You need to weigh what you make now against what it's going to COST you to commute that far (time, gas, etc...) It may be a wash or you could lose.

also, I have a hook up at sprint, I have many friends that work there, and pretty much at the "in" to get hired. hours might not be pretty, but it will be down the street from my house, and pay would be about 10-12/hr plus commision. (granted I will then have a quota I have to meet or i get cut)

To txVrod, i dont have a job right now....I quit so I could go to school in the morning.

Haven't you made multiple posts about needing money and people wanting to break your legs because you owe them?
Sounds like you just need to go to work as soon as possible.

Depends on how bad you need the cash? Would you be working for an individual or a company? Is there going to be health insurance offered? Time off for holidays? Sick leave?

Sprint may not pay as much, but I would imagine that there would be areas you could branch off into, like management position, etc. Plus if you were a full-time employee, you would be offered benefits, retirement, etc.

breaking my legs thing was a joke. Ive been making enough small money on the side that almost everyone is paid off.
I need a job yes, but i have more then one offer on the table, and I dont know if its worth my effort to drive all the way out there.
And yes, like they say, sprint would offer my health insurance and all that fun stuff. something thats kinda needed if I want to operate a bike

Plus not to mention im REALLY sick of deadend jobs. I want to learn skills useful for the rest of my life. driving to dealership to pick up another car to bring back to his shop...yea, easy work, thats for sure, but it doesnt teach me . Thats how ive gotten in this rut of my last 3 jobs at dealerships. its not where I want to go with my life.

Why not work for this guy, learn how the aphoulstry business works, and then start your own aphoulstry business? How is that Dead end?

I was 20 y/o with kids and no education... walked onto a car lot and told them I'd do anything for a dollar, I was broke and my kids were hungry, they gave me $50 to come out and wash off all their cars every week... six years later I own my own car lot.

Any job is only as dead end as your lack of initiative to make it work for you. (Nothing personal at anyone, just a life observation)

having said that... long commutes suck, work close to home, save your gas money and wear/tear on your vehicle.
