my son just passed his PADI certification there last weekend,
it's a beautiful spot, not enough shade for my liking but beautiful.
He dived to the sunken boat.
I think water temp was 80's above the thermocline.
Visibility was 15 feet.
nobody I've spoken to since has even heard of Lake 288!!
Entry and parking 15 bucks.
A few tri-athlon folk there too, some seriously fit people.

I did my PADI certification dive there many years ago. It was in March and the water temp was more than refreshing at that time of year. Looks like they have added a lot of underwater features since then.

no PADI card needed, they don't check anything

they only fill tanks (regular or nitrox), no equipment rental on site

if you check with a dive shop near you, you should be able to find rental SCUBA gear.

I think it's $7 for swimming/snorkling too, as thats what the athlon folks do, swim around in a giant 225x225 meter square

also, since it's private owned it's usually pretty empty, and there are no park police to give out tickets

feel free to call the owner
