Houston Super Bikes rocks! I bought this bike and brought it to them, they had the engine rebuilt by a 2-stroke specialist to get as much power out of it possible. They jetted the carbs to the pipes and silencers and redid all the electrical computer that I don't understand but that's why I take my bikes to HSB. Waylon is the man!

fun bikes to ride, BUT the gamma 250 engine in that thing is not up to the abuse of racing. you will probably get away with doing some trackdays, but when you start riding the outta that thing the stock pistons and crank will soon the bucket. the gamma engine was built to withstand everyday road use, it is NOT a purpose built race motor.

Man, I hope not... That's why we had the engine rebuilt for racing. Better crank and pistons, I should be able to get around 3,000 miles on this crank and I'll do a top end at 1,500. We'll see(my fingers are crossed).

Nope. Haven't been on the track since I moved here. The RGV that I've got is still suffering some rearset damage from when I broke my collarbone on it back in Georgia. I need some tires too. Know anyone with a good deal on some sticky 110/70 and 150/60s?

I think you'll find the Gamma 250 is the parallel twin motor Jody, unless the North Amercan models were different.
The Aprilia uses the the V-twin RGV motor with modified heads etc.
Same applies though re usuage.

Note to OP, use the best fully synthetic 2 cycle oil you can afford.

Have owned a couple myself and they are a blast to ride.

Harada's '99 RSV GP500 bike was one of my all time favs (see pic)
Now if you just had a few graphics

Wow, I'm thinking of shoving a cr500 motor in an f4i frame. I wonder if this would achieve the same Pwr/lbs ratio and feel as these bikes?

Mine's a 91 and when I needed parts I got them from the local Aprillia dealer. No major difference that I'm aware of. They hold up decently on the track - just watch the exhaust port valves from what I've heard, but mine have been fine.
