Based on your scenario/arguement we can just as easily say that ATGATT should be a law, and we could go so far to say that leather is the only acceptable material. So then, should the gov't dictate full face helmets, full leather suits, Full boots & gloves then?
Yes

Don't think so... I don't see any regulation on wether or not
you can ride a bike of any particular displacment, or type.
We know that riding a M/C is inherently more dangerous than driving/riding a car... based on your arguements etc you'd be ok with the government outlawing motorcycles.

No... I used YOUR examples and statements for the basis of a natural progression of logic. Anyone who tracks your thread of comments today can see it.
The justification of helmets works for full gear, displacement/type bike etc as long as one can display some sort of discrepancy between X and Y.

However what I could bet money on, is that if you put two people (in the same fall situation as mine) one with helmet and one without, one person will require emergency (or at least medical assistance) taking away from the other people that may need it. All by not being proactive and protecting yourself from such injury.
That's the interesting thing though, isn't it? Even moreso than a car wreck, motorcycle accidents have so many variables it is virtually impossible to predict the outcome.

I've seen people with helmets walk away from 180mph wrecks on the track, and I've known people who died when they forgot to put a foot down at a light - while wearing a helmet.

I've also seen people walk away from high speed wrecks on the street without a helmet.

It all depends upon the dynamics of that specific wreck and that specific rider.

Helmets MAY reduce injury - but only MAY.

I've pointed out to many, that once you permit the "safety" argument to allow government to do as they wish, you're opening the door for the day when full leathers, regardless of temperature, are required. You can say it will never get that far, but then again, a lot of people never believed seat belts would be required to be worn when they were forced upon the automotive buying public.

Too bad. A motorcycle is inherently unsafe, as it the environment in which it is operated.

There's no extreme - it is a logical progression.

Take anti-smoking legislation. When it was first implemented, it was only to have a smoking section on airplanes. Those who opposed it on the grounds that it would eventually lead to not being allowed to smoke anywhere but your own home (or worse) were dismissed as being extremists...

Do I REALLY need to point out just how far it has gone?

Whether you smoke or not doesn't matter - the fact is, we all see the extreme to which is has been taken.
