Street Racing Ends in A Fatal Crash

POSTED: Saturday, June 11, 2011
UPDATED: 11:01 pm CDT June 11, 2011

HOUSTON -- Alcohol and speed may have contributed to a fatal crash in Pasadena, according to police.

Homeowner Edwin Draviam told Local 2 that it was around 2:30 Saturday morning when he and his family heard commotion outside of their home on NASA Road 1.

"It was a big sound, I thought it was more like thunder," he said.

But this was no storm, instead Draviam found a crash scene in his yard.

Pasadena police said a Corvette came off of the road, hopped the curb and crashed right through Draviam's cinder block wall.

The convertible hit with so much force that it left engine parts, fiberglass auto body parts, including a car door, and street signs scattered throughout Draviam's yard.

Police said the car's woman passenger died on scene.

The driver could be charged with one count of intoxication manslaughter, according to police.

Police said the Corvette driver was racing a man on a motorcycle.

"The car must have been (going) 100 mph," Draviam said.

Police could not say if the motorcyclist could be charged or if they're even looking for him.

The victim's name has not been released. Police said the driver was taken to the hospital in an unknown condition.
Street racing is bad mmk.

So they printed the homeowners estimation of the speed? They will probably sue the homeowner for having such a strong wall. It wouldn't surprise me these days.

Portions of Nasa Road One between Space Center Blvd and 146 are Pasadena, ie: Kirby Intersection. It's really weird...that area was until they got annexed into CLC and built $$$ homes in what was previously undesireable land.

I saw this on Channel 2 this morning. Jennifer Reyna reported it so that was a plus seeing her do something more than traffic. Back to subject.
1, don't think I could go that fast with a tail wind, heck I had a hard time passing the Pedal Party bike on Washington last night.

2, if it was someone here they would not be too smart if they admitted it. While no charges may be brought on the rider I am sure there would be some repercussion.

None of that would have happened if the homeowner and his wall had just been minding their own business. Nosey wall. Always up in other people's .

That wall may have saved the life of the home owner or one of his family. The driver could have killed more people had he driven through the house. The home owner needs to get a engineer to help redesign the wall. It obviously wasn't strong enough to keep the fucktards out. We need more walls.

Intoxication manslaughter charges may be filed against a man whose speeding Corvette crashed through a wall at a Pasadena home early Saturday, resulting in the death of a female passenger, authorities said.

"Alcohol is believed to be a factor," Pasadena police spokesman Vance Mitchell said. Witnesses told police they saw the sports car racing a motorcycle westbound on NASA Parkway at about 2:15 a.m., Mitchell said.

The Corvette driver lost control of the vehicle and went airborne, ending up in the backyard of a residence on Denton, an intersecting street, Mitchell said.

"He went over the esplanade and through the cinder-block wall into the backyard," Mitchell said.

No one was hurt at the residence, Mitchell said. But the car's passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. Her body was transported to the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

The driver was taken to an area hospital with unknown injuries.

Identities were not immediately available for either the driver or passenger.

He shouldn't have put a wall in the middle of their street race.
