Since I started working at a new company (last Nov.) I have been using the exit and enterance gates at Beltway and Clay. I've tried the trunk, my jacket, even held it up and it still won't open the gates. If they have a battery are they user servicable or do I have to take it to the tag store? I'm never going to stick that thing to my screen, maybe I'll mount it on top of my helmet like a gopro.

Naked bike. So it's going in the jacket pocket.

The only reason I need it is to raise the gate at my office - they can tie my parking card in with my EZ tag on the car, hoping it works via bike as well. Can't ride around my parking garage gates, especially after hours when the fence comes down.

Your backpack or a tank bag would be a better option imo

what everybody else said. keep it in the tail. ride the line. if they charge you, they charge you, either through a picture or by picking up the tag. otherwise, your good.

I was told in the trunk as well, or jacket. Lady also said I can also carry with me in a car like when riding with a cheap friend who doesn't have one. I have in the car already.

Can a single EZ TAG be used in more than one vehicle?
No. Just as your license plate is unique to your vehicle, your EZ TAG is unique to your license plate.
The EZ TAG Agreement for your Harris County Toll Road Authority EZ TAG Account requires you to update your information if you change vehicles and/or license plates.
Now the tag will work in your friend's car, but you're not supposed to use it that way and I'm not sure of the penalties if you're caught

I know you're right - just being vain about the bike. Then again, the bike probably looks better with a tank bag than I do with a broken rib.

Personally, I think we should charge by the pound in the parking garage - just roll over a scale. I think one cent per pound should do it.

Just put it in your back pocket. I've never heard of a broken

Go to jail for what, exactly?

Quote:
What happens if I go through a toll lane without paying the toll?
Pursuant to the Texas Transportation Code, Chapter 284, the owner or renter of record (not necessarily the driver) of a vehicle that passes through a toll facility is responsible for payment of all tolls. Failure to pay a toll is a toll violation, and is against the law. HCTRA communications may refer to each instance of toll violation as a toll violation "event."

A toll violation event can result in a Toll Violation Invoice being sent to the registered owner/renter for the past-due toll amount plus fees. Independent of a Toll Violation Invoice, any toll violation event may also result in a traffic stop and the issuance of a traffic citation, which carries a significant fine plus court costs.

To pay your Toll Violation Invoice, or to pay an outstanding toll which has not been invoiced, see How do I pay for a toll violation?

Failure to resolve a Toll Violation Invoice may result in additional Toll Violation Invoices, fines, referral to a collection firm, withdrawal of eligibility to renew your vehicle registration, and/or other legal measures as defined by Texas law.

Why do risky manuvres at a confined area just to save a buck? Risk off other motorists (like we don't already just by being on a bike)? Yes, I realize there are plenty of DILLIGAF type here. So feel free to do what you think is "right".

Me? I'd rather not have to think about it everytime I go through a toll plaza. I've got enough things to worry about on my bike - like staying out of way of all those 2-tons killing machines piloted by texting teens and distracted adults and... staying alive!

Well, if you're riding the white line, they call it "failure to maintain lane" and yes, you can go to the pokey if they feel like taking you.

I keep mine in my titty pocket, but I have an touring jacket with lots of pockets, that's where most people I know keep theirs. My only storage places are under the seat or in a pannier, either way it aint reading.

If my ribs are being broken by a flat 5mm thick piece of plastic, laying flat against my chest in a pocket, I got bigger problems, because I probably hit a retaining wall at 70 mph.

I also keep a key fob gate control in my other titty pocket. It's smaller but about twice as thick, probably going to cause me more problems than an easy tag.

Plus I might have an iphone in one side pocket, and a wallet in the other. If they aren't in my riding pants pockets, which would probably be even more painful.

Death by iphone? I look at it as additional body armor, the pockets in my jacket keep stuff flat against me rather than at a weird angle. Not too worried about the risk.

You can use EZ Tags with multiple vehicles, you use a smart phone or some other interweb device to access your online account and change the vehicle information associated with the device. Or you can just pony up the 15$ for another tag, not expensive. Just keep your vehicles listed on the EZ tag website anyways for plate lookup.

Quote:
The EZ TAG Agreement for your Harris County Toll Road Authority EZ TAG Account requires you to update your information if you change vehicles and/or license plates. Keeping your account information updated and maintaining your EZ TAG Account balance will ensure your EZ TAG continues to function properly - keeping you from receiving Toll Violation Invoices, which you could incur if your vehicle travels on the toll road system without being properly registered with an EZ TAG Account.
