How would anyone EVER know if a shop is disreputable unless that information is shared? If a shop owner does not want their "business" thrown about they will run a reputable business and understand that word of mouth is a HUGE marketing tool....or a weapon that will work against them. it is the risk of doing business.

Ya I wish we could implement a new policy that just says all threads regarding a disreputable person, or place of business without naming names will be locked immediately and the OP banned for 7 days.

I guess the mechanic thought he was so good he did not even need to test ride to verify that wheel was straight as well. Maybe not "required" but i was trained that you do a short test ride anytime the rear wheel comes off, to make sure it tracks straight and the brakes work correctly.

Agreed. There are others here that know who he is. They didn't even have to ask they already knew. I might not even bother with it.

Dude, if you are not prepared to give full story content. DONT FREAKING SHARE IT. I know this one shop out in N.O that got shut down because they sold bikes that belonged to customers or actually sold a bike to a customer and then later on went by jacked it from their apartments.

so SHARE what you know. or just close the darn thread. nobody on here is getting any benefit out of it.

I'd let it go.
Thanks for sharing its a good lesson to learn, thankfully it was just an old dirt bike, and he had no sedamental attachment either.

The shop may have thought they had insurance.
and I agree with insure your own stuff.

I would not claim they are disreputable either, granted they should of had insurance,
its likely this wasn't the only bike stolen, doubt they can make amends on them all. so why start on one and set a presidence

Id let it go, but if the theives were found I would hit them hard as I could legally.
