More than likely yall won't ever bring a bike there. Works on dirt bikes only and maybe some water craft. Read good things about him and known him for years. I just don't understand what's going on. I am very disappointed and won't be doing business there anymore. I feel horrible because I had told my friend to go there. This is just a bad situation all around. Needless to say my friend isn't out a lot of money but the point is that his bike is gone and now has nothing. I had to tell him sorry several times for evening telling him about where he took the bike. I feel so bad as I should just give him one of my other old dual sport bikes that I was going to sell.

If he did not sign an agreement than he may have a case.
My building lease requires $300K of insurance to add theft cost me a whole 150 bucks a year.

Mine does too but that's more for damage to the building etc. If you work on / keep bikes on the premises you should also have Garage Liability / Garage Keepers coverage. We've had it since day one.
Unfortunately you'd be surprised at the number of shops that don't carry any kind of insurance.

lets get this straight...YOU won't be going there, YOUR FRIENDS won't be going there, but you'll allow the riders on this forum, which is supposed to be all about bike riders and having each others backs, to go there...Okay, I've had crappy encounters (not to the point I wouldn't go back) at K's, Tejas, some hole in Pasadena, and ummmmmmmm I'm sure there have been others...But none of my bikes have ever been stolen...I would deff be dropping names on that one!!!!! Go to the courthouse, fill out the paperwork and give them like $150. That's all it takes to sue someone. They will set a date. Tell the judge what happened. It doesn't matter if you signed a waiver or not. A waiver does not give someone the right to be careless with your property. Allowing your bike to be stolen from a shop is careless. Not having theft insurance is careless. That's like someone working on your bike and he spills gasoline on it while smoking a cigarette. Waivers don't cover being an idiot.

There are a LOT of riders here with dirt bikes. Many don't have time or knowledge to work on them and actually DO NOT have a good reputable shop they trust. There are literally HUNDREDS of unsuspecting people here that could suffer this same situation because you won't call out the shop.

IMO...that's up.

I talked to a buddy that owns a small shop. He said he does not have theft coverage for customers bikes. He just went to court for a theft case. He was being sued for the loss. The court sided with the shop owner. He (shop) didn't have to pay. The liability release on the work order covered his shop. The court feels you should have insurance on your own .

, so now we have to create our own waiver and question a shops insurance coverage just to cover our own ? This is a messed up time we live in, when is the c.y.a. going to end. I agree, it's important to c.y.a. I had a '76 Lincoln MKIV with a 460c.i. and took it to a shop when I was younger, had to save up for the repairs and he said it was ok, within a few months he sold it and vacated! It was A+ Transmission on HW6. When I inquired about my missing car we found out that I was not the only person he had done this to, but he was the owner and A+ was not responsible for the loss. I was all
