Talking pretty obsessive...grin

All,

My big brother and brother in law were in town this weekend. We graduated my youngest daughter from Clements HS in Sugar Land. Guy talk centered on motorcycling, bikes, stories, mechanical issues, memories of riding in the late 1960s, safety stuff, more bikes, and such.

The women folk got pretty tired of it all.

Yeah, it gets pretty obsessive, but riding is just so much fun! Big brother and I visited two toy stores: pondering my dream bike for maybe late fall or next spring. The list: Ducati Monster 696, Triumph Street Triple R, maybe even the Harley 883 Superlow. I have an open mind. No rush, I am not ready yet. But kicking options around. This is a great time to be in Houston: some phenomenal dealers, and the buyer has so many wonderful options.

What a great hobby, and seems more of a lifestyle than I imagined. I let my brother in law take my Kawa for a spin, he liked it although he rides a Wing and a Concours. Next time In San Antonio he wants me to try his bigger Kawa. Big brother loves Buella, his Buell Blast up in Montana land. Great for trout fishing expeditions.

Yup, pretty obsessive....

CHS

Yes, CHS is way over the top competitive. Great school though, and both my daughters have well prepared for college.

Class of '89 here. My brother was class of '00 or '01. My daughter will be class of '12 and my youngest will be class of '13.

My youngest says, he doesn't notice any of the competition that people talk about, but then again he isn't jockeying for that number one position.

Back on topic, That's why I'm glad my wife rides, so when/if the conversation turns to bikes she is not completely in the dark. Having her own bike helped her understand why I like riding. And riding alone.

Class of '09 here, and oh yeah. Some of those kids in 10% would have done anything just to move up a rank or two. Why can't the parents just let the children enjoy themselves a little?

Agreed, our approach has been to encourage our daughters to find their own path. They have a label for the Clements HS top ten percenters: "GPA whores"...makes me laugh yet the school is truly outstanding.

Is that why you had to go to Baylor?
