Well we started pulling the good running engine, cause its getting a big bore ZX9R engine from a 1995 bike. I already bought the motor. Gonna start fitting it sometime this week.

Bike we just bought for friend:

Has a bad engine, no fairings, bent fork, bent wheel and dented gas tank.. Plus many more little problems and missing parts.. Thanks to all the scavengers that are too lazy to order replacement parts that only cost a few dollars.

So its getting my old engine (not before we freshen it up). he is ordering new fairings, and I have extra forks.

Well here is what it looks like so far on engine fitment. I still have to work on making the left mount and modify the oil plate. I cant adjust the rear mounts because there is barely any light between the oil line fitting and frame.

Anyways here are some pics.

Here is the second 96' ZX7R project for a friend. Pulling the motor. The rear upper bolt is stuck in there, even a 5# sledge wont bust it and the head feels like its going to pop off when you put the ratchet on it.

Well, this is how the last few days went...

Pulled the bad engine from my friends ZX7r. The rear upper mount bolt was seized in there, due to the previous owner going muddin on the bike and not cleaning it, EVER !! angry:angry

3 days of jerking around with it to get it out without damage to anything but the bolt.

Now for my ZX7/ZX9 swap. We removed the left side engine mount to clear the oil plate. So no modification is needed on the plate for it to clear now. We made a L bracket for the left mount that bolts to the engine mount and then bolts up through the frame. I will post some pics later... Keep in mind If you cant TIG or know someone who can. Dont do what I have done. You wont be able to reverse the procedure if you ever want to go back to a 7R engine. Also having the frame braced.. I like this much better, gives the engine a little more wiggle room and easier to get the sprockets straight.

thats a lot of work...

It will be worth it though to have 130hp as opposed to 100......

If I can find a 10R front forks, triples, brakes with wheel, swing arm and rear wheel. I will do that swap too. With the other mods and fiberglass fairings it will drop 50# or more.

There was a whole bike for sale but the guy wont email me back.

Liking the frame color selection as well...not sure if I care for the green wheels with it though....Looks like it's coming along nicely. I'm sure this project is testing your patience! Keep up the good work.

NICE!!!

Best looking sportbike Kawasaki ever built. Loved it when "The Chief" & Muzzy cleaned up in AMA and then whipped Foggy's in WSBK...

edit...F8ck, Im old....

Thanks, its much appreciated.

I already have the service manual in PDF and just wanted a hard copy. This one I bought covers the 7r P model and 9r B model ..

Just put my TBR risers on. I really like how adjustable they are and they seem much lighter then the stock bars.
