I wish that some of the other manufactures would put the effort into how it looks like icon does. Because tribal designs are gay.

It might not be as superior a helmet as an Arai/Shoei but they look good. And they are marketing to people that might not otherwise wear helmets/gear, so props for them getting people geared up.

Not trying to be an (i do this naturally) but Icon=Garbage. Period. end of Story.

All the gear i've ever seen from them falls apart. My melon, contrary to popular belief, is worth more than a shitty "cool" looking helmet. Shoei and Arai for me TYVM. One day, I might try the new HJC's since the newer ones seem to have improved.

Looks like a cheap Z1R helmet is the best one out there.

Good read, I have always chosen my helmets based on comfort and styling. Its good to know that buying an 800$ helmet doesnt get you more protection

yea the chart is a consumer satisfaction survey. i read the article about this in a dealer news magazine (actually my boss asked me to read it)...and that is basicly the extent of the usefullness of the survey...to know what people are buying into. its completly unrelated to what is the safest, best quality, value, etc... squids like the , and they will rate it as a 5 in all categories becuase......that clown face is cool yo. and look! it comes with a rubber nose! (sadly im not joking icon made a clown helmet that came with a rubber nose...i mean really? wtf...)

the icon brand manager is a total douche. i met him at a showcase. they totally know what goes on in squids heads and they take full advantage.

Ouch Frank! I actually own an Icon helmet (my first) and not one of those fancy looking ones it's just flat black. My old helmet is 10 years old and that's how long it's been employed. I was interested in a new lid when I found out how much a helmet can degrade over time but when I saw how much a Shoei cost I just about shyte myself! I'm not made of money and it looked like my Icon Alliance would be just as protective as anything else in the price range I could afford. It is comfortable though I will say that it does not seem to be as well ventilated as my old HJC nor is it as quiet (it does seem heavier too), but my old helmet needed to be replaced and I have not had any problems with Icons other products (my ti-max gloves fell apart after 35,000 miles but only in the finger seams) it doesn't help that they are pretty much the only company that satisfies my titanium fetish

I bought an ICON helmet five or so years ago to give them a try. After I got it, I was concerned for perceived poor construction. Took it on one ride, and vowed to never wear one again. The vents sucked, the wind noise was terrible (even with ear plugs), and it had thick, plastisky stickers on it that reminded me of those fake portals that idiots put on their car fenders.

GREAT marketing, but to remotely compare this to an Arai is a joke. I ended up giving my ICON to a guy that needed a helmet and was riding lidless. The ICON was better than nothing I am sure, but I'll never wear one again.

I do remember the article on the ZR1 helmet posted above. If someone is broke, there's your ticket for cheap gear versus the ICON.

I wear Shoei now just for my own comfort reasons and price point. I've crashed in them multiple times (and one Suomy) and trust them from experience.

You can almost always get a good selction from closeouts with on line or local dealers if you just ask them. Wild West has cut me some good deals on older Shoeis and s Suomy helmet they were clearing out. I know other dealers/shops will do this with helmets that have been in stock for a while as well.

I want the helmets in your avatar. They look safe to me.
