2 Riders Down!!!

Ok so me and my boy went to the Helping a hero motorcycle run. It was a blast!!! There were about 1000 hoggs there and like 8 sportbikes....well 2 sportbikes a TL1000R and a Katana decided to wreck into each other:BangHead: :BangHead:
We had just left SamsBoat via police escort and had just got on I-59. We were only doing like 40MPH or so. I think it was Sandman who went down and some other guy followed him. I dont know what happen I just saw 2 bikes sliding with plastic pieces flyin all over the place and 2 bodies rolling on the concrete!!!!!! WTF Happened???:BangHead: :confused1

have been in several of the BIG rides like that, with 290 closed down but for a couple thousand bikes, etc. One ride to the rance several years ago several harleys tangled with i think a death or bad injuries. Problems were that some people would let a big gap between them and who is in front of them then haul to impress by-standers by the noise. then there is a slowdown and they run into the bike ahead. Never occured to them to swerve into the empty lane on the left OR the right.

Or perhaps use the front brake instead of locking the rear...

If you had ever ridden a Hardly, you would know that they don't stop. The rear actually is the only thing that will slow one down. The front locks up really easy and will wash out in a heartbeat. Don't get me wrong, I know how to stop a sportbike and all but Hardlys are a different thing. I remember the first time I got to ride a Hardly. I was going pretty quick down the road (yeah I know Hardly and quick don't belong in the same sentence) and I tried to stop and the thing kept going. I was using both brakes and I was glad I didn't have anything in front of me. I learned the important thing about them then. Don't follow close on a Hardly Able son.

It is called physics. An object in motion wants to remain in motion, especially 800 lbs of slug. And most of the weight is on the end. But the front brake is still an important part overall.
