Ironic

It's a weird question, but I would go for Sports bike. Bias? yeah maybe... but as far as true "riders" (not squids or weekend warriors from either group) I would say the sportsbike takes more skills to control or at least at the speed we go on twisties...IMO

Insurance companies side with cruisers. As far as skill depends on the rider each is different.

sure do. 13 years ago, I paid 24 dollars a year for liability for my cruiser. I am sure it has gotten slightly more expensive than that these days but I am sure not much more.

Nope - fewer.

I forget where I read it, but IIRC, supersports are about 4-5 times more likely to have an accident than a car, and cruisers are about 4-5 less likely to have an accident than a car. Accidents for supersports are far more frequently fatal.

i wasnt going by that...I was going by the threads recently and the amount of cruiser that have resulted in fatalities due to no helmet and such...

theres so many variables its almost stupid to argue.

Neither is 'more likely' than the other to have an accident. 90% of cruisers dont wear gear, a higher majority of sportbike riders do wear gear etc..

All the sport bike riders I saw over the weekend were wearing shorts and a tshirt with a helmet. On the other hand saw a lot of cruisers wearing tshirts and jeans with no helmet.

Also keep in mind you can wear all the gear in the world but if you hit something going too fast the gear isn't going to help. It does increase your chances of survival and injury.

I wear more gear than the typical cruiser you see around town. Helmet and boots always, jackets with protection 50% of the time.

i think there is no right answer to that question. everyone likes to think that what they ride is better than what the other person rides.
