been there, done that for many years. there are many things about doing it that i really liked.

i had liability only on the bike paid up for the whole year, and with no car that meant no monthly insurance bill. one less bill is a good thing. better mileage meant less $ spend on commuting, more on joy-riding.

i got the big icon tank bag, i think its called the urban one. amazing how much stuff i could carry between that and a backpack. less waiting at the laundry mat because i was running clothes back and forth while the washer and dryers were going lol.

it was also cool going grocery shopping. forget buying milk, but i dont drink milk anyways. bread is tricky but do-able. i would just carefully stuff it under between the windscreen and guages lol. the cool thing was that going more often you got fresher stuff and eat whatever you felt like, instead of what you were in the mood for a week ago.

these days i have a subaru station wagon which im about to sell. i just bought a 93 toyota pickup truck

This the first year and a half I have been commuting without a bike in 20 years.

I dig the van for its ease of use. But I'll be honest, it's not anything like riding the bike in the rain, snow, or extremely inclement weather. I still feel more comfortable on a bike in weather, than a van in the dry.

I miss the creativity for me to pack up, and get it all in one trip.

Way back in high school I used my bike until I turned `16, I rode in the rain, snow high winds and whatwver could come down. now I am less likely to ride in inclimate weather.

I have a car but thats for the wife and the kids! I rather get up at 6 then go to work while my kids are still sleep.

I dont mind riding in the morning and loving the cool ride to work with very low traffic and then when I go home at 6pm its then same... not so hot but just right!

Now thats getting old.... so we'll see whats next.

We had two cages but now we're down to one and my bike so far so good. I'd rather ride than cage anyway. My wife hates driving my truck though

I tried it once many years ago. It sucked and was not very convenient . I'm fixing to start commuting on the Busa a few days a week. Gas prices are getting to be a real bish. 98.18 to fill up the other day. My commute is 65 mi. both ways

I have a motorcycle, bicycle, and my two feet. The wife has a car which I get to use once a month to practice my driving. I do most of the grocery shopping on something with two wheels and occasionally walk. Loafs of bread always go on the very top of the bag right on top of the eggs. I have been without a car for 6 or 7 years and unless operating costs go way down or I get a job that pays me a ton more can't see myself getting one for a daily driver anytime soon.

I have a sierra, acadia, and my 09 zx-6. Acadia is for my wife.

I ride the bike 80% of the time to work. If I need to do something that requires me needing to carry something large, or if I need to leave at lunch for some reason, I'll take the truck. Cold/heat doesnt effect me. But since I dress business casual, I don't ride in the rain. We have 'casual Fridays', so if its not raining when I go to work, I'll ride even if its raining when I get off because I'm just in jeans in a polo. But any other day, I dont want to chance up nice clothes.

As far as cold goes, since my commute is relatively short and very little highway, I'll ride as long as there's no ice, regardless of temperature. When I was commuting from College Station to Huntsville, I drew the line at 45*. 45* at 75mph for an hour is not that fun, but saved a lot of gas, so I did it anyway. 44*...taking the cage. haha.

I get here every morning and hang up my jacket/overpants/helmet/gloves on the coat rack in my office and go fix my hair in the bathroom. Kind of a pain, but not too bad. Not enough to make me not enjoying the ride, even though its short and always in traffic. That, plus my truck gets 13-14 mpg and my bike gets 35...its a nice savings.

I think I'm going to retire this bike from street use in the next couple years and get a ninja 250 or cbr250 and this one will be track only. Wish I could afford to do that now.

I ride about 2 days a week to work too. It makes me appreciate my car's seat, automatic transmission, A/C and radio when stuck in traffic

It sucked to use the car on the rush hour commute when I f$&#ed up the chain splitter push pin over the weekend. I thought it was hilarious that I had more people try to come over on me in the cage then on the bike.

I love riding and think it's the only thing that keeps me sane for the 25K miles I commute per year. I have a bike, car and truck, make good money, have an office, a shower and always have a military haircut. I wouldn't go back to caging unless I get hit or crash.

yup!!! a/c is even BETTER when you don't take it forgranted and expect it every day.
