If they repair it, you will need to powder coat it. That rim is anodized and not an easy one to fix due to that. You will also need to do the rear as well cause they will not match.

it was after...on monday. i'm fine. curb cut the tire and bent the wheel comming back on the track, and hence caused some asphalt surfing.

bdmpastx, it is not anodized. it's some type of 2 stage paint.

racerx, it is not magnesium. it's forged aluminum.

and yeah, i'm picky, so i'm trying to figure out where to send it.

http://www.framestraightsystem.com/........you will have to ship it to them and prolly cost you 200 total shipped both ways. I would not recomment SABS i been there and talked to them and wanted to me over so screw that im sending to these guys. Lots of racers use Ron esp. from CMRA/USGPRU and other clubs. I dont doubt sabs or others can get the job done...........but why not use places were club racers send their stuff?

well Art is the dad of my friend so i wanted to give him my business. I had three damaged forged mag. rims i wanted to repair. I went up there with all three rims so i can tell him how i wanted it done.....two had to be wielded and one was just bent. He told me two fix the two rims with the cracks would require this and that he needs "special" materials. I was like ok thats fair but then he goes after he is done he would have to color match it for an extra charge. total for one rim.............250 x 3. Sure i know that when you fix a rim the part being worked on will be scraped and not the same finish as it is new but having to use "special" material to fill in the crack was just like feeding me bs. I mean its just the magnesium he has to use to rewield it its not something like zitaniumoxideplatinum corbide material.

Yea well business is business gotta feed the family but i think since my rims were "race" by marchesini and marvic he wanted to make a quick buck. esp since i even told him the price of competitors to see if he can match or come close.

I'm not defending Sabs, but working with / repairing forged magnesium does require a different / more expensive welding material to be used.
Magnesium is expensive period, why do you think a forged magnesium wheel is typically 80% or more expensive than a forged aluminum one?
Pretty much a moot point, as Max's wheel is aluminum. As far as "using who the club racers use", I, as well as many of my fellow CMRA racers have used Sabs and A1.

I act-a-fool and break all the time. Art always makes my broken stuff right. He even welded a broken engine case for me. My shop is on the next street from them, they fix high-end rims also(4000.00 a peice wheels). I have never had a problem with him or his shop.
