Sports stuff

Ok guys heres the deal, I'm trying to come up with an idea to raise money for the United way.

I'm in this deal where you get perks like going to the astros batting practice and get to meet the astros, go to basketball warm ups and meet the rockets and on certain home games I get passes into the united way swete(sp?). However.. I really really really have no interest in sports.. so I've never used them.

However, in trying to find a way to raise money.. I came up with this. If I were to offer my passes to the astros batting practice, and I asked the astros to sign a bat that they used and maybe walk over say hi for a minute.. would somebody be willing to pay for something like this?

If I were to offer up a pass to the united way swete(again sp) with possibly a basketball signed by the rockets.. again would someone be willing to donate to the United way for this opportunity?

If I can get some good feedback I will print this thread out and take it up to the propor people, it's just an idea I had and I am running it up the flagpole here to see who salutes.

BTW, all money would go to the United Way if this is done, you could specify which United Way orginization you want (if you want) I personally give everything to big bro's and sis's of houston.. I won't be making any money off of this I swear :P

Honestly, I wouldn't even know.. I was thinking maybe "highest bidder after 7 days or something"

I guess I could do a set price, but what would something like that be worth? I honest to have never seen a sporting event in my life, live or televised, I don't know what tickets cost, I don't know what normally getting into a catered swete would cost and I don't know the collectors value on a team signed bat/basketball..

Anyone have any ideas?

Well Diamond club tickets for the astros ( ones behind home plate, includes free buffet, snacks, etc) are 325 per seat, the club tickets on the second level are like 54 a seat.

Have no clue about basketball dont watch it.

While thats not a bad idea, I don't know if the paper would go along with something like that.. I think we have maybe 4 people out of 2,000 that ride bikes, and I'm the only one of them with a sport bike =)

This would have to be something that the old men on the executive level of the Chronicle would stamp approved..

I don't think they'd have a problem with me giving away passes, but I dunno how they'd feel about organizing a bbq

On the baseball thing I don't have any tickets to games (yet), it's just passes to watch them practice and stuff.. there actually wouldn't be that many people at all in the stadium (50- I think) so I'd imagine you could go about anywhere, but it wouldn't be an actual game per se, thats why I'd arrange to get a signed team bat and maybe a chance to tell them hi to make up for that part.

The basketball stuff is to an actual game
