hang out here. Learn a bit about the product you will be pouring money into.

Does that budget amount include gear?
repair work?
tax/ title/ license?

keep looking. that cbr is kinda cool, but worth 1500ish imo. you can do much better.

suzuki SV's tend to be a steal when they go up for sale. good sporty bike, but since it isnt a gsxr they tend to be priced a lot less. you can probably catch a decent one for that cash.

dont forget you are going to need money for a ton of other :
helmet
jacket
gloves
boots

insurance, registration, inspection.
might want to familiarize yourself with inspection requirements....

dont get a 250...just dont. a 500 is a much better option. gs500's are not bad bikes at all.

My first "sportbike" I had was a Zr-7s. I LOVED that bike. The engine was bulletproof and it was bad till the day I sold it.

That is 99% of all comments people have about them. Big ole generic scooter.

+1billion on the gear. Forgot about that. You need to have your riding kit
stocked BEFORE you buy a bike. If you buy a bike and have no gear you
are going to ride it anyway..... If you spend the coin on decent gear THEN
buy a scooter you will be able to hop on it right away.

MSF? M endorsement? The police don't play with that anymore....

Good Luck.

I already have gear from my 1st bike. Would like to get a newer helmet though. I am not trying to fit that in my budget. If it does great. The TTL is separate also. Wife won't be too happy about it, but oh well, it should only be around 200 bucks.

I noticed PNP has a 95 CBR 600 F3 with 12k miles for 1500.

You have to get your wife of the equation. You need to spend a bit more to get a bike you will be happy with.
