Talking The Countdown begins. . .

In ten hours and fifty two minutes I'll pick up my new '06 600rr. I've always had hand-me-downs (not that I'm complaining exactly!), and this is the first time I've been able to pick a brand new shiny one off the carpeted lot. :laughing6

I haven't owned a bike for nearly six years--last one was a CB900/1980. It was my only transportation to and from the University of Arizona. Towards the end I didn't have the $$ or know-how to fix a leaky seal, so I had to tie a grocery bag around my left shoe and lower leg. Ah, those were the days! It's amazing how time and distance allow me to fondly recall those oily bags and bungee cording a beat up cat carrier behind me to haul grocerys home.

Enough of that. I'm sure I'm horrifying a goodly number of you.

I teach English & literature at Galveston College, so if any of you see a geeky looking literary type on an orange/blk 600rr flying between the island and Clear Lake, tis likely me.

Hey man, he's not that kinda cat! Believe it or not, we have to buy whip cream in a can every few weeks just for him. It's his treat of choice.

im jealous, I love 600rr's and if you can, try to take msf. people today in cars are not like they used to be, msf can give you a good bit of info on how to watch out for them in this day and age.

I picked it up a few hours ago, and I think I will look into msf pretty quick. On another note, wow--it's a whole different experience compared to previous bikes. It's comfortable to ride, but I'm not excited about the limited visibility. I can't get my mirrors positioned well, and I think I may have made a terrible helmet choice. I don't know if my jacket collar is pushing the thing forward or if I just chose poorly. I had reservations about it when I was leaving the dealership. I should have turned around right then and exchanged the helmet.

Hey Swift E

It's a Fulmer (Joust/Flt blk). The dealer gave me a $200 credit, and I shouldn't have split it between a helmet and a really ill-fitting Cortech jacket. Sigh...where's the gear with allowences for the uh. . . fuller, more shapely, man? :icon_smil

Nevermind about the mangear! This morning the salesman said the only company that manufactured gear for women made everything in pink, but I just found a thread here that proves otherwise. Going shopping!
