Might be the color. All the magazine pics I have seen of it feature the red/white color scheme.

No ur not too far off. the tires are quite small too one 250s. but they don't need to be big , hulking vehicles, they want to keep the weight down.

OP, congrats on the great looking bike, i think the wifey will love it. if my 500 had the styling of that bike, i think i'd be set !!!

and ur right, 500 cc for getting around town / highway is enough, but going down any smaller in size would be a challenge for sure. gotta change ur whole gameplan for passing!

77, if that's a true life number, is probably on the low end of what I'd say acceptable compared to the ninja. If it has less power, it sure better have better fuel economy. I really like that its fuel injected. Maybe that will force kawasaki to do the same with the ninja.

According to Motorcycle Consumer News (which just did a comparison of the three):

CBR250 - 59.5/54.3/56.5 (High/Low/Average)
Ninja 250 - 48.3/42.5/45.7
GT250R - 36.8/44.7/41.3

I usually get about 45 on my 250 which I consider good since I rag the out of it.

Nearly all riders rely on the power of their bike to come back up to speed instead of maintaining a high speed through a corner. As for highway riding, yes you have to plan ahead a little but again that also prevents alot of problems like reacting to a situation instead of perceiving an issue before it arises and allowing yourself an out. So its an experience/confidence issue w riders and the 250s not being 'powerful enough.'
bring it to the track.

Mine being exposed to natural light is the biggest difference I can think of. All photos were taken with my Droid X. Someone else mentioned most press pics being of the other color scheme also which I have to agree with.

I have put 270 miles on it. I have filled up twice so far. First tank mpg was 57 and second tank mpg was 60 with regular unleaded gas. It does have a fuel gauge similar to the CBR600. My 1000 doesn't have one Both tanks resulted in about 30% "spirited" riding / 70% highway cruising @ 240lbs.

She did and she wanted black so her bike would look like mine. Her rims are better and I am no considering powder coating mine when I need new tires....we'll see.

After being away from the 1000 for two weeks and coming back home w/the 250 today, I can definitely attest to the smaller tires on the 250....way smaller. The stupid mother ' dealership in Shreveport skimped BIG time on the pre-sale inspection and a bolt came off the shifter while I was riding and the shifter came off. It's at Honda of Houston awaiting like $20 in parts (no one has parts for it yet) so I won't be able to take my side by side pics of it at the house just yet. When I do, I'll probably post them on a separate thread.

OP, congrats on the great looking bike, i think the wifey will love it. if my 500 had the styling of that bike, i think i'd be set !!!
