uhm,...... correct me if I'm wrong. but 250's are suppose to be low on power...... hence that is why they make great starter bikes.

The good thing is that dealers aren't jacking them up like they did for all bikes in general during the high gas $$$ summer of 2008, particularly the Ninja 250s. Does that mean that Honda dealers are classier?

I will fill up today as I am curious what my first tank yields vs my wife's first tank when I get it home to her.
From what I understand there wasn't the expected bump in sales during the last gas price spike. Good looking bike, better looking than the ninja for sure. Here's hoping honda pushes that styling across more of its line!

no... i understood his point completley. my point is, no one buys 250's for performance.... they buy them for the fuel savings and to learn to ride safetly and then buy "bigger" bikes for the performance

I would buy a 250r for performance....

But if KTM ever releases a 250cc version of this. I would be all over that.

actually, 110mph with with me (140lbs) on it, TWS (Texas World Speedway) front straight top of 6th gear. i wanna like the hondas, i just can't yet. they're no where near competitive for racing. kinda ugly too. honda was (maybe still is) paying contingency for the mini classes at CMRA races, top 3 i l believe. we still haven't seen one grid up. kawi EX250's is where it's at.

edit:
i race an 08 ninja 250, for clarification.

That's a good looking bike. Honda of Houston had some but the sold them like hot cakes. Congrats on the new bike. Aren't they fuel injected too?

That's kinda sad that it only goes 75, I've taken my Ninjette to an indicated 100 mph and I'm 6'6, and north of 250.

The price point would be too high if they made a "performance" 250 and then
it'd be so high strung people would complain about it breaking...

Aprilia makes a performance 125 two-stroke, but it isn't street legal.

Funny cuz other then the straights I keep up w everyone on our backroads rides on a 250 hyosung. 90 in the corners is 90 in the corners. If my bike weighs much less then yours its an advantage.

Nearly all riders rely on the power of their bike to come back up to speed instead of maintaining a high speed through a corner. As for highway riding, yes you have to plan ahead a little but again that also prevents alot of problems like reacting to a situation instead of perceiving an issue before it arises and allowing yourself an out. So its an experience/confidence issue w riders and the 250s not being 'powerful enough.'

I love lamp, I love carpet, I love Honda. Cool to see someone on here actually has one already. Mine should be here at the end of the month. I hope it does go at least 80 with me on it(165lb). Not that I will be that disppointted. After all, it is a 250cc. The big reason that I'm getting it is for fuel economy, and more confidence in corners with something that I'll be able throw around a lot easier. It will be sad to say that my little four cylinder car can beat it on 0-60 and top end with ease.

p.s. What brand of rubber is on it?
