Is this a common swap? I've done a lot of research into dropping the 900 into the 7R and it's a pretty common thing, but I never heard of the 1400 going into the 12R. That would be my ultimate dream sleeper bike (unless there was a way to put the 1200 into the 7R or, heaven forbid, the 1400 into the 7R.)

I've always wanted a ZX12R. If this is a successful mod, I might have no choice but to sell everything I own and do it!!

Keep us posted!!

You would have better luck sticking the 12R motor in the 7R/9R

Seems like I saw some notes about an attampt at sticking a 12R in a 14 frame and it was a no go.

Which reminds me.. I really need to put my 1287 in one of my bikes one of these days! LOL!!!

Looks like it is possible after all... just need the 14 ECU and harness... and some fabbing skills.

I'll have to look that over when I get home where the pics aren't blocked...

Gots me curious now... heh heh heh

Tb spacing is different, would be easy enough to find a junk ZX14 frame and cut that section out. Having the two frames together would give you ideas on motor mounts as well

I've seen someone use a 12R header on a 14 by spreading the primaries out a bit...

Can't see doing this for a stock 14 motor tho; a decent 1287 will make 200 or a little more HP and stomp 14's all day long on the street.. for a lot less money and effort.

Now, if you had a 12R with a blown motor.... hmmmm

Ok just got to new Orleans about to get the 14 motor
I did research on it and after a little.fab work and some time it will work the ecu from a 14 would have to be used and a little bit of changing on the motor mounts and it'll be good I'm freaking excited about this ZX12r powered by a stroked ZX14r motor gonna be some work but it'll be worth it

I know someone who has done this swap........after it was all said & done they wish they had just bought a 14 frame. You're just going to end up with a hacked up 12. I'm a pro bike builder & these guys were not unskilled.......its a swap I wouldn't attempt myself.

Thanks
