04s and below with the 955 are the best looking. IMO.

They are good bikes. Could have better wind protection. I Do not see many problems with them. They make good power and have a comfortable body position.
Check out the new tiger 800 as well.

I test rode the 2011 speed triple at the triumph demo truck event at killeen powersports.

this is what i found:

Speed triple: Excellent bike. Only complaint was that the transmission was too clunky and the throttle felt too loose. No deal breakers. I really like how comfortable the seat was, and the way the tank was shaped. This made it easy to clamp on to the bike with my legs for the turns. Also the engine sounded like a cross between a ducati and a modern sport bike. very nice

Other things I remember from the test ride: the bike had lots of power, felt light on the steering (wide bars i guess) and the brakes were very good. (especially when compared with the thruxton)

This is one of the bikes I'm considering for my next purchase. I'm mostly interested in the 05-06 with the stubby seat.

My wife had a speed triple....very fun to ride. She just bought a Monster 1100S and it has the same feel as the triple....only with better suspension seems to be more fun with better wind protection (slightly)

I have a 2001, is my second bike, previous bike was a Kawasaki ZR-7 so I don't have a big reference to compare. The bike has a PCIII USB, after market exhaust and BMC Air filter. The bike runs great and is very comfortable, wish I had the fly screen, at 90MPH the wind blast starts feeling annoying so I need to duck a little.

You can find a lot of information at:

The Speed Triples are BAD bikes. I almost bought one.

They're right about the trans though. The Daytona has a butter smooth trans. The Street and Speed have this notchy poor excuse for a trans.

I've had my 08 for around 3 years - probably the best all around bike I've ever owned. Its not gonna have the top end of a supersport liter bike but it has plenty to keep you happy. Smoothness of an inline but torque of a twin. And nothing on the road sounds like it. Do it. You won't be disappointed.

Sprint Ride Smart

I have a sprint. I test rode the triple. Awesome bike. The one I rode was a little snatchy on and off the throttle. Probably I needed a little more finesse on the clutch than I'm used to. Might get used to it...might not.

The triple motor though is absolutely to die for, and it's a comfortable fun bike to ride.

If you plan on taking passengers though, they better be short yoga instructors. The back seat is ridiculous...although probably no worse than your usual sportbike pillion seat...

I think a daytona streetfighter would be better than the street triple.
