Way Out West, Steak Night round 2

Every Wednesday at Creekmore's sports bar & grill Near Sealy ,TX they serve up a 20-24 oz porterhouse with a baked potato and salad for $15 and beers are $2.25.

I posted this up yesterday at the last minute and got some hits of folks that want to go next week...

I recommend we get there by 6:45(ish) to make sure we all get a steak (they will run out by 7:45 (it's a popular event for a small town). If we get a sign up list going, I'll call ahead and have them order that many extra steaks to make sure we don't get left out (like if we have late comers).

Bring cash for your dinner... they run cards for drinks... a $20 will be all you need unless you're gonna get sloshed... and not many of us do that when we ride. $20 will get you a steak dinner and 2 beers (I usually take $21 so I can tip the bartender... she's not all that cute, so $1.50 is all she gets).

To get there, just take I-10 to Hwy 36 ... go south on 36 for about 2 miles... you'll pass a Wal-mart and a Wells Fargo... stay left because the right lane is a right turn only at the cut off for Eagle Lake and that place is kinda scary ... as in
"I think I heard Banjos"

RUN!!!"

Once you get past the cut off for Eagle Lake, you just watch for the 70mph speed limit sign and get ready to pull off onto the shoulder and Creekmore's is on the right hand side of the highway.

I usually park in front (on the grass) and bring something to stick under my stand so it doesn't sink or slip. If you choose the parking lot, be warned... it is sand and gravel and has pot holes that will swallow a good sized truck... so be careful.

They use Montreal steak seasoning on the meat so if you don't like that make sure to order it without. (just an FYI)

It is an icehouse style bar... so they basically sell beer and soda and "set ups"... which means if you don't like beer, you can bring in a bottle and order a soda to mix it... I know a lot of y'all are not into drinking when riding... no one will take offense... it's a real laid back spot. They have pool and darts and all the usual hole in the wall accoutrements... And for you "purdy fellers" in the bunch... remember that in Sealy, TX the number pick up line is "my, my, what a lovely tooth you have"...

So, ride, drive, walk, or crawl on down to Creekmore's next Wednesday for one helluva good porterhouse and some of the funniest people watching you'll ever do without visiting a mental ward.

Might be easier to meet at Buccees on CRR and ride 36 all the way there instead of messing with 610/I10 traffic.

I-10 traffic isn't too bad after 6:30 but you can definitely come up 36 from Crab River... just watch out for the sugar land traffic... not much better than Katy...

See you guys Wednesday.

Right now looks good. My only word of advice is that when it gets dark those country roads can be tricky. I was at Repkas last night (good place for crawfish) and another place you may want to do before the bugs are gone.

High beam I was fine but going to low beam was a bit trickier.

Sorry Bro... I REFUSE to pay $8/lbs for crawfish... I eat them 10 lbs at a time (I spent my summer as a kid outside of Houma, LA in one of the smaller fishing towns)... Throw in the RUDE wait staff and the fact that they don't keep Dixie Beer in stock (REALLY??? A CAJUN joint that doesn't sell Dixie???)... and then on top of the $8/lbs it's an extra $1 for corn (per 1/3 ear) or potato (per red potato) and they don't put any andouille in it ... and did I mention $8/lbs ???

I left outta there the one and only time I was gonna eat there... my tab was around $300 for me and two girls to eat crawfish and we each had 6 beers... That's INSANE!!!

Anyway... not trying to step on you by any means Bro, and you're more than welcome to come eat steaks... and if you REALLY like crawfish, we can do a boil at my place (I live off of Racer's Road) in a couple weeks. I can get farm raised, live crawfish for $50-$75/bushel sack (that's about 30-35 lbs) from a buddy with a farm over in Anahuac. If we get a guest list and all that I'll go over and get the bugs in my truck... and set up the boiler and the coolers... charge $10 a head for 5 lbs of crawfish and a couple beers per person. No profit in it (not meant to be)... but it'll cover my costs for fuel, propane, bugs, ice and beer... We could it BYOB but it'd still be close to $10 a head...

Let me know... we'll set it up...

Oh... and don't worry about "twisty roads" to get to Creekmore's... it's on Hwy 36... You were back closer to my place near Pattison over at Repka's... Creek's is real close to I-10... just about 2 miles south of the interstate and highway 36 is real straight and wide open.

It IS (!!!) dark though (I almost pulled out in front of some driving without headlights down the shoulder when I left there this past Wednesday)... so be careful, and look twice before pulling out.

This ought to be a good time. I'll just be getting out of finals and don't have to work again 'til Monday... so I plan on staying and shooting some pool and hanging out for a bit.

I thought I saw 4.95 a pound for crawfish. but I had a burger @350 which was not bad. Regardless, it was my first time there yesterday and it was alright. What I liked best there was the relative quiet and minimal light pollution. Do count me in on Wednesday though.
