pretty sure we've got more reported this year than in the same time frame/span than 2010 or 2009... but that could easily be due to the addition of more members.

Grogan's Mill at Sawdust is all businesses - and that's on a big curve too - I wonder if the driver was pulling out of a business parking lot on the curve and didn't see the biker coming around the bend? Not sure if yo u can ever believe the report, but a 'high rate of speed' around a blind curve in a business area spells disaster at drinkin' time.....

Prayers to his family and the driver too. RIP RIDER

Witnesses will always claim the bike was traveling at a high rate of speed. It's programmed into every non-rider's thinking. Especially when they see sport bikes. Loud exhaust, leaned over - it has to be going fast, right?? Most people can't accurately estimate speed by looking. If you manage to downshift before your accident, they'd probably say you were "racing". This makes me sick every time I read one.

Thoughts and prayers to his family. RIP

And PS: Yes... this has to be one of the worst seasons I can remember. You have to be proactive out there. You have to think about what the idiot is going to do before he knows what he's going to do.

By the same token, the police are typicaly pretty good about investigating accidents involving fatalities and 'fast' or 'high rate of speed' is relative to the posted limit and other traffic. It's best to take the reports at face value until proof can be provided otherwise.

True,
It is entirely possible. Maybe he sped up to try and get around thinking he couldn't stop safely. I often accelerate to get out of a tight spot. No way to know.
I just see the way non-riders talk about motorcycles in general, on other forums, facebook and such. The bias is incredible. It will always be the bikers fault.

and motorcyclists will always say "they think i'm going to fast and i wasn't." usually the motorcyclist was going to fast.

Rip. I think gas prices being so high may be a variable in so many people wrecking as they are using bikes for more than recreation now. Just a guess

. i ride up there with my girlfriend to to Market Street to chill. That's right around the corner from where she lives. May Joshua Hollen rest soundly. I've been reading about fatalities on bikes for the past month and it reminds of how fragile we are and that the motorcycle is something to respect.

Be safe out there guys and ladies
