New helmet pic

Picked up a new Bell Star Rally in matte black from Motorcycles Unlimited a few weeks ago. Its runs big. I normally am an XL but am a L in Bell. My previous helmet, which I will still wear from time to time, is a Scorpion EXO-700.

It vents well which means it's louder so I put some ear plugs in. My favorite things:

1. To me, it looks cool as
2. It fits like a glove...I was in between sizes in the Scorpion
3. The photocromatic transition shield. Never have to carry my book sack for a shield change. It blocks out light just like a smoke shield but is a tad lighter when "fully" dark. I think you can barely see my eyes....just barely.
4. It is very stable when turning to pass.....very
5. The chin air vents direct air to my cheeks, not my eyes like the Scorpion.
6. The back is pretty legit. Actually, it was what made the wife give me the thumbs up on the purchase

Thanks to Luke from Motorcycles Unlimited in assisting w/the transaction. Also, thanks to Ivan and the blonde chick from 2 Wheel Toyz as I tried on some Shoei, Arai, and Suomy over there. In the end, the Star won out.

I have a bell star with the transition shield also. I love it. Thinking on getting the red/white rally from Motorcycles Unlimited

I went in there wanting to buy the red for contrast since most of my gear and my bike are black. It was definitely cool, but the black was just . Had the red been in a matte, I may have snagged it after all.

I never see anything about Ride Smart Taichi on here at all. I actually didn't first read about it until browsing on 600rr.net. I like them both but I really like the aluminum/titanium (depending on model) external shoulder sliders on many of the Dainese models. The GMX Motion jacket is clearly the better value.

What did it set you back?

I'm in a scorpion right now, but thinking the blue lid and jacket (to match the old bike) aren't going to match the new yellow/black bike very well... Do they come in anything but black?

$475 + tax. The "Rally" comes in matte black w/white racing stripe or gloss red w/white racing stripe. I am an XXL in Scorpion and a L in Bell.

Nice.
Just picked up a new Shoei today myself.
Feels good when you get a new lid.

Oh and can't go wrong with either Ride Smart Taichi or Dainese.
