Welcome! lake jackson for 18 yrs.. Get the versys, ESPECIALLY since you're tall. it's a great bike. the KLR doesn't have the creature comforts, and there's no reason to have a "slightly more dirt-worthy" bike around here.

Thanks for the recommendation!

I think there are more than enough good places around here to justify a KLR. In my neighborhood alone there are all kinds of trails and paths that I used to ride on my Honda CT125. Also my next bike has to be adventure ready as I'm going to be taking it across the nation. I want to visit all 50 states on my bike before I hit 25.

The KLR strikes a cord with me with its off road capability to take me to some of the less traveled roads but also because any bike I get for this journey I want to be able to repair with an on board tool kit.
