Owning a few CBRs, I already knew that but they are pretty much showing people how to steal bikes.

Yeah I had a CBR but never knew it was that easy, and they list it out step by step and where the ignition plug is

No joke.

Part of me wonders why higher-end bikes don't have a little bit more theft protection built in, stock. If you are already laying out 10-13k for a new bike, what is an additional 500 for a smart key?

true, but how many people would actually modify their bikes for that specific purpose.

Why would they want to build a bike that couldn't be stolen? They only make money when you buy new bikes, not when they make a bike you can keep.

I'll tell you exactly why.

Mercedes DAS3 (Smart) keys are about $250 each.

I can't tell you how many people are running around out there with only one freaking key to their car and then they drop it just right or in a puddle of water/toilet and are SOL till they can order and get in a new key.

Bikes would be even worse and it's a much more hostile enviroment
then a car.

Harleys are even easier to steal. When I was in school I used to take my dads every time he flew out for work. I was only 17 when I figured out how to steal an HD lol
