Blood

Anyone donate with the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center on a regular basis? I was out the other day riding and saw the donation bus and figured why not. I was remembering that someone from the board went down recently and went for a ride in a helicopter. Is there a Motohouston bank anyone has set up I should mention next time I am donating?

Another thought I had was would there be any interest in doing a Motohouston donation day or drive? I am not eligible for another 54ish days according to their website.

Keep the rubber side down.

I know my mom donated there once a while back but complains that they call her at least a couple times a month to donate again.

I donated with Gulf Coast when I was in Corpus about a month ago and haven't received any calls. I'm not sure if I provided my phone number though as I usually donate with red cross but they just happened to come by my work that day. They did send me my blood type as well as my cholesterol though, usually I only receive my blood type. Anyways, I know we've done it in the past when people went down, I wonder if we could set up a running bank for MH?

That would be pretty cool to setup an MH bank.

kindof what I was thinking. can you give blood and say you want it to go to a special person or group of people and not to others?

Yup You can donate in their name, of course they won't get your blood specifically though. But I don't know if we can keep a "running tab" per say.

I donate there under the Commit for Life program. When I donated, they asked if I had a group I wanted to get credit for my donation, I just picked a local church group (I think).

http://www.giveblood.org/cfl

Since I found they have a Donor Center nearby, I donate whole blood ever 8 weeks. I'm O Pos so I am a good whole blood donor.

Lots of reasons to do it, I highly recommend everyone consider it.

Great idea to have an MH designated group, although it might be better to just list "Houston Motorcyclist" if they will do that. It would serve a greater group of riders. I'm scheduled to donate Tuesday afternoon, I'll ask what the options are.

don't give the bluud center period, ever have to get blood??? they charge the equivalant of your first 2 kids for 25 years per pint, you donate and get nothing. and they won't take mine anyway its bad stuff causes all kinds of anti feelings that they don't like
