it will need a new clutch basket and clutch, which I just don't have the money to do right now since the r1 needs a tire, but I will let you guys have a go at it at the spot

Buy a dirt bike, and convert it. Having a heavy street motard is kind of a bummer sometimes. Unless you're going to buy a husky, or an sxv or something. Plus you can convert one for much cheaper than just buying one.

Thats my plan actually. So I can get in spending less money, and build it up with time.

2 stroke or 4 stroke?

best engine size?

For practicality's sake I would say four stroke. Only thing that sucks is maintenance on most four stroke dirt bikes is horrendous, my bmw is a 650 rotax, so maintenance on it is not near as bad. Might have to ask some of the other guys on that, but I can definitely let you try out both a four stroke and a two stroke... I think the two stroke is definitely more exciting to ride, but it's not practical.

thanks..... I think I would go for exciting Vs practical. Since I do not plan on putting alot of miles on it.

If excitement is what you want, the two stroke is most definitely that, among many other things. is downright crazy... You'll see..

You can pick up a DRZ400E for around $2,000 and then get SM rims laced onto the stock hubs or get a set of used wheels/tires like I did.
