What I did "allegedly" was looked up the value on the tax website, then had the bill of sale show 75% of the value. I think they take 80% of the computer value IF your bill of sale is lower. If you have a bill of sale that shows 90% of value, they'll expect you to pay the higher price.

Bullshit I know...

REGARDLES why he dont want to pay the tax ,, it works the same kinda ,, if you trade with someone and they are of = value then no tax , if it was a gift to you = no tax , other wise its based on a prezumptive value , not really blue book,, and you can get online and put in the VIN it will tell you what your tax is going to be

at least in brazoria county

or you buy from a dealer then you pay tax on what you bought it for ,, that is how it works that is all i have

BUT

i dont see why we have to pay tax on any used item , the bike was bought one time already the tax on that item has already been payed ,, i say if you can get out of paying go for it !

registration every yr is bull too but thats another post

They won't try to take the vehicle i'm "trading" out of my name or something. May complicate things if I ever sell that vehicle being traded?

You can even trade, and say you traded an AC unit if you wanted. Even trade tax is 5$ btw, not 40$

straight. you go out to dinner and pay sales tax on your food, however they don't charge the sewer company a tax, gift fee, etc. on your recieved . maybe they havent found out how to put a value on it yet, idk.

the state and gov pulls money out of my pocket DAILY, i dont feel the least bit guilty for trying to keep a little bit there. fck um.

whats the site where you can plug in your VIN and find the tax on your vehicle? its a state wide tax so it should be the same regaurdless of what county you are in.
