Lightbulb Nerve damage from a track day...

Two weekends ago I did my 2nd track day at MSRH. Since this was the first time I was really moving around on the bike, I was told I'd be sore. I rode around 230+ miles that day, and as the day went on, the muscle next to my shin bone (on the inside leg) became more and more sore. However, I just expected it to be muscle soreness. After about an hour of the track day being done, I was unable to lift my foot up towards my shin (the tech name for this movement is called dorsi flexion).

After going to the doctors, they diagnosed me with peroneal nerve damage which results in "foot drop". Has anyone ever heard of this happening before? Any input or advice you can offer? I've never heard of anything like this, and the doctors haven't been very helpful. To be honest, I'm not even sure how to heal nerve damage like this. Should I stretch it, never move it, etc.

I'll be seeing a orthopedic tomorrow so hopefully he is helpful, I'm just wondering if any of yall have any experience in this. Currently I'm wearing a boot during the day and taking it off during sleep. Thanks to everyone for any input, its kinda scary when your foot doesn't move but there is no swelling or pain associated with it. Stangeee.

wow, crazy. nerves have to heal on their own, and they heal REAL SLOW, so be patient and keep vigilant and trying to move it and doing exactly what the Dr. says.

I had my foot do that to me before . It was later diagnosed as a bulging disc in my back..It didnt occur because of riding...

I know a bit about physiology, and I find it unlikely that your track day with no crash resulted in nerve damage. Honestly it sounds ridiculous. It sounds like at best you could have had a preexisting condition that got aggravated.

Best bet is to stay off the track and hit the streets.

Thats happens to me from time to time. If I stress the front muscles of either leg without stretching, it gets so where I cannot move my foot up.

Its frustrating. Usually lasts a week or 2 and slowly comes back to normal. It has happened since i can remember. I would say give it another week and see that it does.

Massage the muscles on by your shins ad gently stretch your foot forward, helps with me.

I never brought it up to anyone before cause I never heard of it happening to anyone else.

If I stretch those muscles good before putting them through any stress, it doesnt happen as bad.

That has to be a pre-existing condition. BTW, did you ride to the track, did the TD and then rode from the track all in your bike?
