I've taken my daughters out for rides before. The two youngest just around the hood but my 12 year old, I've taken out onto FM974. In full gear that is.

My Son's 9 & he's asked, I'll take photo's of him sitting on it, but I have to respect his Mom's wish that he doesn't get to ride. I've set a precident in the fact that I'm riding... when he's older & if he makes the decision to ride also.. that's cool with me.

I took my daughter for rides in the neigborhood when she was smaller, After she turned ten and was big enough to fit in a helmet and gear she got her first street ride and loved it...

I have a 6 month old that I take around the neighborhood. Before you jump to conclusions I will tell that she is safely tucked in a baby bjorn carrier and has sunscreen on. You should see the look on her face.

I have fairly recently started picking up my 9 yr old from school. Basically, he and I ride 17 miles one way daily. We also have gotten some Lime Creek runs in. We both enjoy riding tremendously. He loves the fact that he is a part of the team when it comes to operating a motorcycle. The bike, me, and him all in complete harmony. We also BLUNTLY discuss the devastating consequences that can come with riding on a motorcycle. There's simply no better education than talking about it. He understands the burden that weights on your shoulder once he kicks his boots on the pegs. He takes riding seriously but also has fun being in control.

In the neighborhood seems alright to me. But I would likely get them a 50 to start out on instead.

My daughter is 8. She has been riding with me around the neighborhood for some time now. She has her own helmet, jacket, pads, gloves, and boots. Think the biggest treat for her was last Christmas when I took her around the neighborhood to look at Christmas lights.

I use a rider hold tight (a belt that goes around my waist with handles on it) so he has something to hang onto other than my jacket.

My Daughter(13) has ridden with me to meets on Wed. nights in full gear on the back. She will ride with me on the 109 when I pick it up too. Will buy her a 125 soon so she can learn to ride on her own (shifting gears and clutch work)

My dad first took me out on his cbr F4 when I was 6. When I got a little older he would take me out on longer rides. One time on the back of his 995 speed triple I remember looking over his shoulder and seeing 112 appear on the big digital speedo, I thought it was amazing.

Just be prepared that you will inspire a bike obsession in your kids!

It's not hard to find dirt bike gear that fits the little ones - they start riding early so there's stuff out there. Dunno about one that small though - not many 16 month old kids ripping it on motorcycles. Finding street gear is a though... Cycle Gear had only one helmet in the whole store that fit my daughter when she was 10, and we lucked out and found a jacket at Motorcycles Unlimited that fit her pretty well.

My oldest and I have been riding together for a few years now; not just putting around, but trips to see family in Columbus, Fayetteville runs to Orsak's, several times through the Forest, and once on 3090 and up to Yankee's on a MH noob ride. She rides well and knows how to work with me on the bike - most times I don't even notice her back there.

It's good quality time with your kid - take 'em if you can, it's a great thing to share.

Some of my best times riding were with my dad when I was younger (10-14) because it was just me and him. We would go on 200-300 mile rides....

I hope that in the future when I have kids to be able to be with a chick that is as cool with it as my mother was. My mom knew it was a matter of time (my whole family rides, including my little brother)
