I never understood how people claim should choose whether someone lives or dies. I was lucky enough to survive my childhood, and a severe motorcycle crash with little to no deficiency. When it comes to the death penalty, how do you know its not saying it is this persons time.

this is probably going to upset some of yall, but it's what i believe.

I never have read the bible, and dont plan to. It has been written, and re-written, and interpreted how everyone wants it to be. There was only 1 version when it was originally written, but now there are several versions. I think it's like playing the game of telephone. somewhere out there, is the REAL bible, but along the years, it has been told and re-told to people's likings.

no flaming neccesary, this is what i believe, just expressing my opinion.

I kind of call that a cop out it's easier to say that than to have faith in the bible. not a flame but throwing that out there.

then i read some more into idolatry..............this is from wikipedia

A very strong attachment to one's country that a religion considers inappropriate. In this case nationalism could be considered a form of idolatry.

A very strong desire to gain and wealth that a religion considers inappropriate. In this case greed could be considered a form of idolatry.

A very strong desire to gain fame or recognition that a religion considers inappropriate. In this case egocentrism could be considered a form of idolatry.

An obsessive desire to earn money could be classified as idolatry

idolizing sports heroes soldiers and other people and things are all idolatry yet the christian right is really in deep with idolatry.

these are ramblings but they are also the reason i think the right wing aligning itself with christians or vice versa is a dangerous thing. they are basically building a party based on a lie.

Most theologist will recommend having at least 3 seperate versions of the bible in your posession.

again, i am none of these, i dont care to reach fame, fortune, or appeal. I am me, I dont claim to be anyone else, nor do I want to.
I just dont believe a book that has been written and re-written for hundreds of years.

Im not about to call out any religion ( not looking to argue, not trying to offend anyone ) but i have to ask, why are there different " versions " of the bible?

Because it's always been subject to interpretation..........hence so many "versions" of religion. They virually all believe in a "" in one form or another...........some just have different names for the same thing.

There are many versions of the King James as well. I suggest getting a few.

At least you will be prepared to answer that you have studied multiple versions when someone poses the question.

Don't get me wrong it doesn't take the place of the Bible, but, for looking stuff up that you don't know where to find.. you can't beat it.

To find those specific quotes I did a search for "forgive" and that was some of the stuff that popped up, I knew them through paraphrasing but this way I was able to give the exact wording and location.
+1 here's another link...quick reference tools and a number of versions make for a great resource....

Differences in interpretations and translations...

Has to do with the canonization of the books of the bible and differences in opinion as to whether or not to "literally" translate the bible or translate it based on what the interpretors thought was meant by the text in question. Research the canonzation of the bibe and the dead sea scrolls...
