I thought it was Houston's policy not to ask the immigration status of anyone arrested and not to report anyone to the Feds for deportation. Sounds like he wants it both ways.

serious.

no blame went to the officer for not frisking properly? I know its not proper to say 'cause he's dead, but if he would have , he might be alive now.
Sure, illegal aliens rash my , but its not border security that caused this tragedy.

Once you're arrested for a crime by the HPD they try to determine your citizenship status and if you're illegal they contact INS. On the street the cops won't ask if you're illegal.

very true Tim. seems no one is responsible for their own actions any more.

instead of using this press confrence to boost the morale of the department he used it for his agenda. no wonder his approval rating in the department is low.

+1 scooter. Example, when BP exploded did people blame the Saudis? When someone dies on an oil rig in the Gulf do they blame the mermaids? When someone gets hit by a train do they blame the hobos? get my drift?

the officer obviously did not do the best job of searching the guy.

but the guy is a felon, once deported, and has been convicted of molesting a child in pasadena before.
