1st trackday video

Thanks Patrick for setting up my FZ1 for this.
Thanks GoPro for being easy to use and not falling off the mount!
Thanks to the great instructors, one of whom passed me later in this video (maybe some day I can keep up!)

All in all, not bad for my first track day, no spills, no mech failures - just a ton of fun!

Thanks Supa Dave! It was the very last session (8th?) on Sunday. It was a great time and I look forward to the next TD!

A couple of suggestions:

*You seem to be hugging the inside of the track. I used to do that too, try using the whole track, entry on the inside, leave on the outside, it will help you carry more speed. Segment from T2 to T3 for example.

*For future videos, remove the music and hear your engine. That always helps to define if you are on the right gear or if you need to shift and come out lower. Likewise, it will serve you to see if you need to gas it up sooner.

You were looking pretty good for your TD.

I noticed you didn't shift. Is this something the instructors tell you to do? Seems like a good way to learn the track (not having to think about shifting)

Nice vid.

You're right. And thanks!

After a bit, and a suggestion by an instructor, I did start keeping it in one gear to minimize distractions, and it did help! With the 998 there is plenty of power in 3rd to get around and I thought only about the turns.

Next time I am adding body positioning and gears to help pull out of corners.

My goal on this day was to not damage myself or my Fazer, and see what it (I) could do regardless of lap speed.

The instructor suggested 4th, but that wasn't enough. Guess that depends on the bike. Maybe on a 600...
