Fuel light problem

I have a yamaha R1 2005 and the fuel light flashes 8 times, pauses, then flashes 8 times, etc. What does that mean? The tank is full...

This is what the manual says verbatim about it.

NOTE: This model is also equipped with a self-diagnosis device for the fuel level detection circuit. If the fuel level detection detection circuit is defective, the following cycle will be repeated until the malfunction is corrected: The fuel level warning light will flash eight times, then go off for 2.5 seconds. If this occurs, have a Yamaha dealer check the vehicle.

In other words, sounds like your fuel detection circuit needs to be replaced.

No Problem. I just so happen to have a 2005 R1 with the manual saved to my desk top.
