Yeah, cuz i was passing the schoolbus on the outside after I ran over the dog and kicked the cyclist...

There were'nt any cars by us otherwise we would have slowed.

Was'nt trying to sound like a badass, just making a point that turn was'nt so bad.

C'mon guys. A rider is seriously injured.
Let's not turn this into another street vs track thread.

I can't imagine how bad this must have been for everyone involved, my best wishes to Karthick and I hope he heals up fast and easy...Good on you guys for keeping him calm and seeing him through until medical help got there.

Like everyone has mostly estated, this is a really bad situation and it could have happened to anyone...If he does not have imidiate family maybe we can have a little ride to go see him tomorrow afternoon, I don't know him (don't think) but I knew how much a visit can mean to someone layed up in a hospital bed.

I really like the idea Maxgs had regarding nood rides... This is what i was trying to work towards by the "Twist of the Wrist II" viewing. Might help everyone understand their bikes a bit more.

Yes, before anyone says it, the track is a better place to learn this, but it is what it is.

Whatever the plan, we need to do something more. Safety rules and "ride your own ride" isn't cutting it.

Prayers that everything goes well for this rider. Such a shame.
Kurt, I don't know how many times I've tried to offer advice to some of these younger riders and have gotten the "what the do you know, old man? attitude". Too many riders think they have it all under control and they don't really know about how to ride. How many times have you seen the fast street guy going to the track all full of themselves and thinking they are going to own it, only to find out they really aren't that fast after all.

Some can learn from advice, others from books, but some guys just have to on the electric fence and find out the hard way.

That doesn't mean that I won't continue to offer help, cuz I will. Too bad that some of these egos won't allow them to accept the offer.

terrible accident that could have ended up much, much worse. glad to see there were people with him instead of him riding alone. he'll pull through and be back in the saddle in no time.

Mayn, Vegas, that is sad to hear, hope dude recovers ok, the back roads is definitely NOT a place for a new rider to ride on. those roads are scary & intimidating.

Just spoke with his family friend, Karthick had surgery last night and all went well. They repaired his legs and also found that he broke his shoulder, collar bone and a finger. He does have some family in Chicago that may be coming down.

He is currently in SIMU Bed #25, but they have asked that anyone who wishes to visit please call the nurses station first @ 713-704-9033 to make sure that a.) he is still in that room, and b.) he is not sleeping.

So sad to hear, wish him the best of luck recovering sooner than later.

Maybe time to have a group riding class? Not that its anyone's fault, but Curt's right and I've been saying this for awhile too. These rides are lacking structure, and I think would help prevent some or most accidents.
