To each his own but that was a dumb comparison. Yeah, SOME people hit the steering wheel in a car crash. ALL bike rider will hit the ground and possibly ( forbid) other objects that are prone to damage your . Gear isn't 100% foolproof and yes Texas is hot. I'd rather sweat that bleed.

yea I kinda think we speak american english round here, not some hoodrat ghetto speak...well most of us do anyway, don't listen to certain people like...well we know who they are. and I will make fun of you if you ride/act/dress as a squid, I don't care how bad you think(misnomer cause you don't actually think) you are. as far as going down as a squid, been there done that have the scars, don't care to add more to the list thanx. if your gonna ride squid style then do it, if I have to scrape you up off the ground I will poke at your injury and ask if it hurts, and I will do it several times, and if you swing on me 2 things will happen the least of them is that you WILL be a guest of the county for assault of a civil servant/state official. I don't ride squid style, and if I do I don't blame it on some like being a and whining "its hot" it uncomfortable or other bullshit excuses.

It'd be worth the night in jail. I'd go down trying to kick the out of whoever was poking a fresh injury of mine while waiting on the ambulance... Then I would holler that I had full blown AIDS as I were being put in the back of a police cruiser and let him go home worrying for a few months about whether it was a good idea to poke my road rash to prove a point.

All a moot point if he's wearing latex gloves anyway but that was just a pathetic thing to say.

also, these "i just got my first bike so i am an invincible badass" threads are getting ridiculous.

no. health care professionals will make life miserable for those who don't ride with a helmet and those who drive without a seatbelt. NEVER tell your ER nurse that you were riding without gear. you will get ZERO sympathy and a little extra rough handling. consider this your fair warning

you aren't going to be able to swing at no one once you are on a back board and strapped down to the gurney.

While it's true that most traffic fatalities occur within miles of home that is absolutely the result of the fact that the vast majority of driving is done within miles of home.

You're most likely to be killed in a traffic accident near your home simply because that's where most of you driving is done.

The fact that you're far less likely to die in an accident hundreds of miles away (in the hill country for instance) is because statistically you only drive there for a very small fraction of your total drive-time.

Hill country riding would tend to be far more dangerous. If two groups of people rode equal amounts of time on 337 and within five miles of their homes the riding on 337 would doubtless claim more accident victims.

Riding 10,000 miles a year in your neighborhood vs. riding 100 miles a year in the country makes it far more likely that you'll crash in your neighborhood.
